Geochemistry and geochronology of the Troodos ophiolite: An SSZ ophiolite generated by subduction initiation and an extended episode of ridge subduction?
Soichi Osozawa,Ryuichi Shinjo,Ching-Hua Lo,Bor-ming Jahn,Nguyen Hoang,Minoru Sasaki,Ken-ichi Ishikawa,Harumasa Kano,Hiroyuki Hoshi,Costas Xenophontos,John Wakabayashi +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used trace-element, radiogenic isotopic, and geochronologic data from the Troodos ophiolite, considered in concert with the large body of previously published data, give new insight into the tectonic history of this storied ophiola, as well as demonstrate the variability of suprasubduction-zone ophiliites, and differences between them and commonly used modern analogs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Geochemistry of Cenozoic basalts in the Fukuoka district (northern Kyushu, Japan): implications for asthenosphere and lithospheric mantle interaction
Nguyen Hoang,Kozo Uto +1 more
TL;DR: Fukuoka volcanic field in northern Kyushu (Japan) is comprised of scattered small, monogenetic volcanoes with ages ranging from 1.1 to 4.4 Ma, and a set of samples from the area, together with some from nearby localities, was collected and analyzed for major and trace element abundances and Sr, Nd and Pb isotope compositions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synchronous Japan Sea opening Miocene fore-arc volcanism in the Abukuma Mountains, NE Japan : An advancing hot asthenosphere flow versus Pacific slab melting
Takahiro Yamamoto,Nguyen Hoang +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that the Ryozen Formation is an adakite, which is a product of eclogitic slab melting and can be regarded as an antakite with no genetic relationship with the basaltic rocks.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cenozoic lithospheric extension induced magmatism in Southwest Japan
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the geochemical properties of syn-opening volcanic rocks from the Hirado, Ikitsuki and Takushima islands off western Kyushu in the Taiwan-Sinzi Folded Zone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anomalous intra-plate high-Mg andesites in the Choshi area (Chiba, Central Japan) produced during early stages of Japan Sea opening?
TL;DR: The Choshi high-magnesian andesite (HMA) lavas were reported to have erupted on the forearc side of Central Japan in the Choshi coastal area (Chiba) as mentioned in this paper.
