Catriona Mackenzie and Jacqui Poltera’s discussion of narrative integration and identity takes up a wide range of issues. It advances objections against Galen Strawson’s critique of narrative identity and defends both the claim that some narrative conception of identity can capture descriptively the ways in which human agents experience and make sense of their lives and also the claim that some form of narrative self-interpretation is required for a fulfilling, well-lived life. In defending these claims, Mackenzie and Poltera appeal, in part, to Elyn Saks’s autobiographical account of her long, on-going struggle with schizophrenia and the significance of this struggle for her selfunderstanding (Saks 2007). Does credentialism affect the gender wage gap? Evidence from Chile

The aim of this paper is to describe the operation of the training system in Chile in the last two decades, deepening the access roads, sociodemographic characteristics and access conditions. Using data from the Survey of Socioeconomic Characterization (Casen), presents the operation and dynamics of training from the standpoint of public policy. It concludes with three measures that should be considered for optimizing the operation of the training system, such as improving information systems in respect of investment in human capital, the articulation of government services that provide opportunities for training and increasing interference of workers in decision-making training.

Capacitación y capital humano: análisis de las últimas dos décadas Training and human capital: An analysis of the last decades

El objetivo de este articulo es describir el funcionamiento del sistema de capacitacion en Chile en las ultimas dos decadas, profundizando en las vias de acceso, caracteristicas  sociodemograficas y condiciones de acceso. Utilizando los datos de la Encuesta de Caracterizacion Socioeconomica (Casen), se presenta el funcionamiento y dinamica de capacitacion desde la optica de la politica publica. Se concluye presentando tres medidas que debieran ser consideradas para la optimizacion del funcionamiento del sistema de capacitacion, como lo es la mejora en los sistemas de informacion respecto de la inversion en capital humano, la articulacion de los servicios del Estado que ofrecen oportunidades de formacion y el aumento de la injerencia de los trabajadores en la toma de decisiones de capacitacion.
