SirT1 Regulation of Antioxidant Genes Is Dependent on the Formation of a FoxO3a/PGC-1α Complex
Yolanda Olmos,Francisco J. Sánchez-Gómez,Brigitte Wild,Nieves García-Quintans,Sofía Cabezudo,Santiago Lamas,María Monsalve +6 more
TL;DR: It is found that SirT1 regulates the expression of several antioxidant genes in bovine aortic endothelial cells, including Mn superoxide dismutase, catalase, peroxiredoxins 3 and 5, and can be localized in the regulatory regions of these genes.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Citrate Transport System of Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis biovar diacetylactis Is Induced by Acid Stress
TL;DR: This acid stress response seems to provide L. lactis biovar diacetylactis with a selective advantage resulting from cometabolism of glucose and citrate at low pHs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Activation of the Diacetyl/Acetoin Pathway in Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis bv. diacetylactis CRL264 by Acidic Growth
TL;DR: The results support that this biosynthetic pathway is induced at the transcriptional level by acidic growth conditions, presumably contributing to lactococcal pH homeostasis by synthesis of neutral compounds and by decreasing levels of pyruvate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Contribution of citrate metabolism to the growth of Lactococcus lactis CRL264 at low pH.
Claudia Sánchez,Ana Rute Neves,João Cavalheiro,Margarida Moreira dos Santos,Nieves García-Quintans,Paloma López,Helena Santos +6 more
TL;DR: It was shown that the beneficial effect of citrate on growth under acid stress conditions is not primarily due to the concomitant alkalinization of the medium but stems from less expenditure of ATP, derived from glucose catabolism, to achieve pH homeostasis.
Citrate metabolism and aroma compound production in lactic acid bacteria
Nieves García-Quintans,Victor Sebastian Blancato,Guillermo Daniel Repizo,Christian Magni,Paloma López +4 more
TL;DR: Nieves Garcia Quintans, Victor Blancato, Guillermo Repizo Christian Magni and Paloma Lopez Centro de Investigaciones Biologicas, Consejo Superior de Investigación Cientificas, Ramiro de Maeztu 9, 28040-Madrid, Spain; Instituto de Biologia Molecular and Celular de Rosario and Departamento de Microbiologia, Facultad de Ciencias Bioquimicas and Farmaceuticas, Universidad Nacional deRosario 2000-Rosario
