Review of IoT applications in agro-industrial and environmental fields

Traffic light control systems are widely used to monitor and control the flow of automobiles through the junction of many roads. They aim to realize smooth motion of cars in the transportation routes. However, the synchronization of multiple traffic light systems at adjacent intersections is a complicated problem given the various parameters involved. Conventional systems do not handle variable flows approaching the junctions. In addition, the mutual interference between adjacent traffic light systems, the disparity of cars flow with time, the accidents, the passage of emergency vehicles, and the pedestrian crossing are not implemented in the existing traffic system. This leads to traffic jam and congestion. We propose a system based on PIC microcontroller that evaluates the traffic density using IR sensors and accomplishes dynamic timing slots with different levels. Moreover, a portable controller device is designed to solve the problem of emergency vehicles stuck in the overcrowded roads.

Smart traffic light control system

Stimuli-responsive nanocarriers can release their bioactive cargo “on demand”, potentially improving the selectivity, specificity, and efficacy of therapeutic drugs. Light of wavelengths between 650–1100 nm is a unique stimulus with many advantages. It is noninvasive and “bio-friendly” and can be manipulated with precision and ease. Many light-responsive nanocarriers reported in the literature employ photochromic molecules that undergo reversible isomerization upon irradiation, thereby functioning as gates or switches for the release of encapsulated bioactive compounds. This review surveys the design, synthesis, function, and application of one-photon visible and near-infrared light-triggered photoswitchable compounds in the development of long-wavelength light-responsive nanocarriers.

Traffic congestion problem is a phenomena which contributed huge impact to the transportation system in country. This causes many problems especially when there are emergency cases at traffic light intersections which are always busy with many vehicles. A traffic light controller system is designed in order to solve these problems. This system was designed to be operated when it received signal from emergency vehicles based on radio frequency (RF) transmission and used the Programmable Integrated Circuit (PIC) 16F877A microcontroller to change the sequence back to the normal sequence before the emergency mode was triggered. This system will reduce accidents which often happen at the traffic light intersections because of other vehicle had to huddle for given a special route to emergency vehicle. As the result, this project successful analyzing and implementing the wireless communication; the radio frequency (RF) transmission in the traffic light control system for emergency vehicles. The prototype of this project is using the frequency of 434 MHz and function with the sequence mode of traffic light when emergency vehicles passing by an intersection and changing the sequence back to the normal sequence before the emergency mode was triggered. In future, this prototype system can be improved by controlling the real traffic situation, in fact improving present traffic light system technology.

Traffic Light Control System for Emergency Vehicles Using Radio Frequency

Information system in any organization is an essential element. For this purposed, many organization spend budget to buy a good system in order to have a reliable system to be operated in their organization. Many systems that invented are focused on the user friendly element e.g. easy to print out the document, available in cellphone and easy to access from anywhere. The proposed project developed student information that be used in Faculty of Electronics & Computer Engineering (FKEKK) and is known as the Student Information System (SIS). This system focused on recording and updating the student data. It is also will provide report for the lecturer who wanted to check their student status. Besides, this system was developed based on the forms oriented which used by the existing Staff Information System before. This new system used database concept to store all the information, which related to land application processes. As guidance for this project development, Rapid Application Design (RAD) methodology is used. As the conclusion, the software was fully functional and achieved the objectives. This system will contribute a new knowledge to the student information system and give the ease to the user for making arrangement or scheduling the student matters. This system will give a better performance in arranging the lecturer and student information without having to do it manually. For the future improvement, it is suggested that this system available and able to be used through cellular phone as the nowadays demand.

Development of Student Information System

The development of heart pulse instruments rapidly fast in market since 21st century. However, the heart pulse detector is expensive due to the complicated system and it is used widely only in hospitals and clinics. The project is targeting to develop a significant photosensor to the medical fields that is easy to use and monitor their health by the user everywhere. The other target is to develop a comfortable instrument, reliable, accurate result to develop of heart pulse using low cost photosensors. This project involved both hardware and software with related to signal processing, mathematical, computational, formalisms, modeling techniques for transforming, transmitting and also for analogue or digital signal. This project also used Peripheral Interface Controller (PIC) 16F877A microcontroller as the main function to control other elements. Result showed this project functioned smoothly and successfully with overall objectives were achieved. Apart from that, this project give good services for people to monitor their heart condition form time to time. In the future, wireless connection e.g. Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Zigbee would be developed to make the system more reliable to the current world. Furthermore, the system should be compatible to various environments such as Android based OS so that it can be controlled away from the original location.

Development of Optimal Photosensors Based Heart Pulse Detector

Conventional method that usually been used in restaurant is by taking the customer’s orders and write it down on a piece of paper. Many ordering system have been proposed in order to undertake this issue. The project is proposed with the Bluetooth technology as the communication medium and Peripheral Interface Controller (PIC) as the hardware which implements faster ordering system. It consists of a keypad at customer’s table as a remote control and monitor at kitchen or counter to display the ordering information systematically. The aim for this project is to build and design both hardware and software for the ordering and delivering system at restaurants by using keypad, display screen via Bluetooth communication. The project also targeted to receive information that works around 100m away with the specific location. Result shows that the hardware and software are successfully functional and able to be used as a smart ordering system. The project was able to solve the lack number of the worker, reduce the lateness and the error on ordering foods by the customers. For the future target, using touch screen display and compress the device to more compact device are recommended as the nowadays demand to interact young generation for using this system.

Smart Ordering System via Bluetooth

Wiper is an essential component that used to wipe raindrops or any water from the vehicle’s windscreen. The previous system used to activate the wiper manually and the process of pulling up the wiper is difficult to be handled. Thus, this system is proposed to solve these problems. The objectives of this project are to upgrade the older cars system by providing automatic wiping system, to improve the system by using sensor with actuator and to design a basic program that will fully operate with the system. The concept of this proposed wiper system is similar with other existing conventional wiper. In spite of removing water from windscreen, this system also will be upgraded to an automatic control system by using a Peripheral Interface Controller (PIC) 16F877A controller and water sensor. As the conclusion for the project, the results shows all the aim objectives are successfully achieved. The wiper system was well functionally according the water condition from the outside of a car. This project showed a contribution on the design of the automatic wiper system for the future research in this same field. It is recommended that the system to have a study on the wiper material that been used to make a wiper because the driver at hot and climate country are facing the problems regards to the wiper material.
