A helmet mounted display (HMD) system comprising a display pod having a light wave optical element. The display pod is designed to be attached to a base plate located above the brow of a helmet using opposing hook and loop-style fastener pads or alternatively, a pair of locking disks. The mounting position of the display pod is adjustable within three degrees of freedom, including lateral positioning along a plane that is co-planar to a mounting surface for the display pod, as well as rotation about an axis that is perpendicular to the mounting surface. The HMD system is adapted to compensate for variations in mounting position using a bore sighting adjustment.

A bearing sensor may be included and configured to detect bearing and to generate bearing information representative of the bearing. An abnormality detection support device, suitable for a case where rescue operations are made under situations that visibility is disturbed by smoke due to fire, includes an infrared camera, a display which, at least when the infrared camera is in use, comes to be positioned in front of a user's eyes and reproduces an image taken by the infrared camera thereon and a face protector or a helmet, on which the infrared camera and the display are provided, and the infrared camera and the display are arranged to be within an outline of the user's head in a front view when the device is put on the user. The present invention can, therefore, provide the abnormality detection support device which enables an operator to work with both hands available while directly watching the infrared image even under a circumstance that smoke or the like due to occurrence of fire disturbs the field of vision of the operator, and has excellent usability.

Device for assisting a person in rescue operations under hazardous situations

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality probe support device which is excellent in convenience while satisfying that a site worker can work with both hands while directly viewing an infrared image even in a situation such that the worker's visual field is disturbed by smoke of fire or the like. SOLUTION: The abnormality probe support device includes an infrared camera and a display which is located in the front of the eyes at least when using the infrared camera and reproduces an image taken by the infrared camera, the both being provided on a face protector or helmet.
