A token calculates a one time password by generating a HMAC-SHA-1 value based upon a key K and a counter value C, truncating the generated HMAC-SHA-1 value modulo 10^Digit, where Digit is the number of digits in the one time password. The one time password can be validated by a validation server that calculates its own version of the password using K and its own counter value C′. If there is an initial mismatch, the validation server compensate for a lack of synchronization between counters C and C′ within a look-ahead window, whose size can be set by a parameter s.

One time password

A system and method for generating a One Time Password (OTP) based upon a value TEC that can change based both upon the occurrence of an event and the passage of time. The OTP can be computed at a token and sent to a verifier. The verifier stores exact or estimated parameters necessary to compute one or more expected OTPs from the token, including TEC. The value TEC can be synchronized between the token and the verifier.

Time and event based one time password

The present invention discloses a system and method for managing a password authority to a smart door lock. As long as a user binds a door lock APP with a door lock and performs time synchronization, a temporary door opening password can be remotely and dynamically generated and shared to a visitor. Because the door lock APP and the door lock adopt the same custom password generation algorithm, a temporary door opening password is calculated by taking a delivery serial number of the door lock, a secret key value set by a user and unlocking allowance time set by the user as parameters, and the user can allow other people to open the door lock by means of the temporary door opening password without needing to share a password used for a long time customarily. Moreover, the temporary door opening password generated herein does not need to obtain generation elements of a secret key from a cloud terminal, so it is unnecessary to connect the door lock to the internet, it may be unnecessary to remotely set a new password by means of the background of the internet, and therefore much privacy is provided for domestic/personal users. Hardware is not highly required, the cost is low, the implementation is simple, and the user experience is excellent.
