Abstract: Hydrocinchotoxine (9), which has been converted into hydrocinchonidine (10) and hydrocinchonine (11), was synthesised via photo-oxygenation of the indole derivative (7) followed by treatment with dimethyl sulphide and dilute acetic acid.
