Characteristic signatures of Northern Hemisphere blocking events in a Lagrangian flow network representation of the atmospheric circulation

TL;DR: In this article, a Lagrangian flow network is used to study the spatial patterns of selected node properties prior to, during, and after different atmospheric blocking events in Northern Hemisphere summer, highlighting the specific network characteristics associated with the sequence of strong blocking episodes over Europe during summer 2010.

Wave Breaking Events and their link to Rossby Wave Packets and Atmospheric Blockings during Southern Hemisphere Summer

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors assess the occurrence of Rossby wave packets (RWB) events after the propagation of short-lived or long-lived RWPs (RWPs with a lifespan below or equal to 8 days, or SLRWPs), whether SL RWPs or LLRWPs are linked to large-scale RWB events that could form an atmospheric blocking event, and, lastly, study the proportion of blocking situations that occur near RWB events.
