In an ink-jet recording process which comprises forming droplets of an ink and recording on an image receiving material by using the droplets, said ink is prepared by dispersing fine particles of pigment into aqueous dispersion medium containing polymer having both a hydrophilic and a hydrophobic construction portion. An average particle size (D micron) of the pigment and an average molecular weight of the polymer satisfy the relationship represented by the following equation. D×5×10.sup.2 ≦W And the ratio of molecular weight of the pigment to average molecular weight of the polymer is a value in the range from 1:2 to 1:150.

Recording process and a recording liquid thereof

Also disclosed are hot melt ink compositions suitable for ink jet printing which comprise a colorant, a propellant, and a binder selected from the group consisting of rosin esters; polyamides; dimer acid amides; fatty acid amides; epoxy resins; fluid paraffin waxes; fluid microcrystalline waxes; Fischer-Tropsch waxes; polyvinyl alcohol resins; polyols; cellulose esters; cellulose ethers; polyvinyl pyridine resins; fatty acids; fatty acid esters; poly sulfonamides; benzoate esters; long chain alcohols; phthalate plasticizers; citrate plasticizers; maleate plasticizers; sulfones; polyvinyl pyrrolidinone copolymers; polyvinyl pyrrolidone/polyvinyl acetate copolymers; novalac resins; natural product waxes; mixtures of linear primary alcohols and linear long chain amides; and mixtures of linear primary alcohols and fatty acid amides. Also disclosed are hot melt ink compositions which comprise a colorant, a propellant and a binder, wherein the binder comprises a liquid crystalline material.

Hot melt ink compositions

An aqueous ink composition including: a water-soluble polymerizable compound containing two or more polymerizable functional groups each selected from the group consisting of a (meth)acrylamide group, a maleimide group, a vinyl sulfone group, and an N-vinyl amide group, wherein a ratio of a molecular weight of the compound relative to a number of the polymerizable functional groups contained in a single molecule of the compound is 175 or less; a polymerization initiator; and water.

Natural wax-containing ink jet inks

An aqueous ink composition contains at least one pigment selected from the group consisting of a condensed azo pigment, a condensed polycyclic pigment, a phthalocyanine pigment, and a nickel complex azo pigment, at least an anionic surfactant with ethylene oxide group or a nonionic surfactant with ethylene oxide group as a dispersant, a wetting agent, a penetrating agent, and water, with the ink composition having a surface tension of 20 mN/m or more and less than 35 mN/m. A yellow ink containing at least one pigment selected from the group consisting of C.I. Pigment Yellow 128, C.I. Pigment Yellow 138, C.I. Pigment Yellow 151, C.I. Pigment Yellow 97, and C.I. Pigment Yellow 150, a magenta ink containing at least one pigment of C.I. Pigment Red 122 or C.I. Pigment Violet 19, a cyan ink containing at least one pigment of C.I. Pigment Blue 15:3 or C.I. Pigment Blue 15:4, each color ink further containing a specific anionic surfactant and a water-soluble organic solvent, and a black ink containing C.I. Pigment Black 7 are used together as a set of color ink compositions for ink-jet recording.
