Crustal Reflection of Plane SH Waves
TL;DR: In this paper, the amplitude of free surface displacement due to plane SH waves incident at any angle at the base of a layered crust was derived for the case of a single-layered model of the continental crust.
Journal ArticleDOI
Crustal reflection of plane P and SV waves
TL;DR: In this paper, a computer program has been written to calculate normalized surface displacements as functions of horizontal phase velocity (or angle of incidence) and wave period in a single-layer model of the continental crust.
Journal ArticleDOI
A static theory of the seismic coupling of a contained underground explosion
TL;DR: In this paper, a static-equilibrium theory of the displacement produced in the neighborhood of the source of a completely contained underground explosion is developed, which is consistent with the observed size of the cavity produced in tuff by the underground nuclear explosion Rainier, but an even smaller value of the friction parameter must be assumed.
