Journal ArticleDOI

An alternative synthesis of 4-deoxy-4-fluoro-D-glucose and its transport in the human erythrocyte.

TL;DR: The results indicate that O-4 in beta-D-glucopyranose is not involved in hydrogen bonding to the carrier protein associated with the transport of D- glucose in the erythrocyte.
Journal ArticleDOI

Incorporation of 3-deoxy-3-fluoro-D-glucose into glycogen and trehalose in fat body and flight muscle in Locusta migratoria.

TL;DR: Flight muscle and fat body extracts from Locusta migratoria were incubated with D-[U-14C]-glucose or D-[3-3H]-3-deoxy-3-fluoroglucose and the products were analyzed and there was an accumulation of tritium labelled fructose.
Journal ArticleDOI

The defluorination of 4-deoxy-4-fluoro-D-glucose in the cytoplasmic membrane of Pseudomonas putida

TL;DR: The metabolism of 5 mM 4- deoxy-4-fluoro- d -glucose in Pseudomonas putida to 4-deoxy- 4-fluorosic and 4 -arabino-2-hexulosonic acid is shown by 19F NMR spectrometry to occur with concomitant release of fluoride from each of these substrates.
Journal ArticleDOI

The metabolism of 4-deoxy-4-fluoro-D-glucose in Pseudomonas putida

TL;DR: Gel filtration of this sodium dodecylsulphate solubilised fraction shows all the radioactivity to be in a large molecular weight peptidoglycan-protein complex (>400 000 daltons).
