According to the present invention, chamber units are sequentially coupled with each other to thereby provide a volume of clean space, and whereby different environments can be maintained in the different chamber units. An air blowhole or door is provided at an opening section of each chamber unit. Moreover, a space section can be defined at the coupling part of the chamber units, and a suction pump and a suction hose can be provided in the space section, so as to prevent the environments of the different chambers from influencing one another.

Coupling-type clean space apparatus

An apparatus for sterile filling of beverage containers has a first module and a second module. The first module rinses and sterilizes empty containers and delivers the sterilized containers to the second module. The second module fills and caps the containers with beverage product at ambient temperature in an active sterilization zone utilizing an e-beam sterilization unit.

Reflow solder oven gas management system introduces an inert gas into and removes contaminated gas from a reflow oven tunnel (42) at predetermined points (6, 8) to influence the oven tunnel gas flow and to dilute and expel excess oxygen. The contaminated gas is ducted to a flux separation system (34) to be cleaned, for example remove flux vapors, and returned in part to the tunnel (42) for recirculation and with the remainder routed to end baffle boxes (54) for tunnel end pressurization and exhaust. The system has sufficient pressure to supply end baffle boxes (54) with clean gas to create a gas barrier to effectively seal off the tunnel ends from air infiltration or migration into the tunnel making the system insensitive to external pressure and/or temperature variations. The invention also includes alternative embodiments, low flow oxygen bleed valves (72) to maintain low oxygen content in the oven process tunnel.

Reflow oven gas management system and method

An open-architecture system for filling and sealing containers (52) in controlled environments. The system provides easy access to containers being processed, and minimizes start-up times and waste. Containers are processed by gas distributors (which may comprise gassing rails (10)) provided in segments and individually movable between operating and service positions. Exhaust plenums (11) are described for improving function of the gas distributors when processing containers. Gas exchange systems including on-demand processors (5) and improved gassing elements are provided. An independent processor (5) is provided to receive, correct and environmentally process defective (e.g. underfilled or overfilled) containers (52).

System and method for filling and sealing containers in controlled environments

A controlled environment sealing system and method of operating the same. The controlled environment sealing system having a transport system for transporting containers between processors, a lid placement processor positioning lids on the containers, a controlled environment processor providing the containers with a controlled environment and pre-sealing the lids to the containers, and a permanent sealing processor permanently sealing the lids to the containers in a contaminating environment.

System and method for sealing containers

A method and apparatus for reducing the amount of an external fluid which travels through an opening into an enclosed area. Also, a method and apparatus for protecting a surface area or plane from contact with or intermixing with an external fluid. The method, in general, comprises causing a fluid to flow, in laminar form, in proximity to or directly across an opening, a surface or an area plane to be protected. The depth or thickness of the flowing laminar fluid layer at its source of origin is at least about 0.05 times the distance across the opening, surface area or plane to be protected, in the principal direction of flow of the fluid at its source of origin. The width of fluid flow at its source of origin and transverse the direction of fluid flow is at least about as great as the maximum width of the opening, surface or area plane to be protected, transverse the direction of fluid flow. The Force Number of the fluid must range between about 0.05 and about 50; the preferred range for the Force Number is from about 0.1 to about 10.
