An ethylene polymer extrusion composition having high draw down and substantially reduced neck-in, a process for making such a composition and a process of using such a composition to prepare extrusion coatings, extrusion profiles and extrusion cast films are disclosed. The ethylene polymer extrusion composition is made of 75-95 weight percent of at least one ethylene α-olefin interpolymer and 5-25 weight percent of at least one high pressure ethylene polymer characterized as having high melt strength and a broad, bimodal molecular weight distribution. In profiles, coatings or films, the composition can be used as sealant, adhesive or abuse resistance layers.

Soft, flexible films suitable for human skin contact are required for disposable medical devices. Soft, flexible monolayer elastomer films have been developed that are suitable for human skin contact and provide improved low-temperature flexibility and improved strenght to weight ratio over conventional polyvinyl chloride films for medical uses. Embodiments of the flexible monolayer elastomer film comprise styrene-ethylene-propylene-styrene block copolymers (SEPS), SEPS/polyolefin mixtures, SEPS/polyolefin/ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer mixtures, and EVA/polyolefin mixtures.

Flexible monolayer elastomer films and bag for medical use

Blend compositions of ethylene inter-polymers have equal or improved processability when compared to blends of high pressure produced polyethylenes (HP-LDPE) and linear low density ethylene inter-polymers (HP-LDPE/LLDPE). Additionally, the blends of ethylene inter-polymers have superior optical and physical properties to the HP-LDPE/LLDPE blends. The ethylene inter-polymer blends include a first ethylene inter-polymer having, an nRSI greater than 26, a PDI of greater than 3, or less than 15, a CCLDI greater than 1.0, or less than 10.0, and a branching factor less than 0.7. These inter-polymer blends also include a second ethylene inter-polymer that has an nRSI of greater than 1 or less than 11, a PDI of greater than 1.5 or less than 6, a CCLDI greater than 1 or less than 20, and a branching factor greater than factor 0.70, or less than 1.

Ethylene inter-polymer blends

The present invention is directed to the combined use of first and second fatty acid amides to improve the softness of a thermoplastic polymer construct. A combination of fatty acid amides is provided in the blend ratio of about 10 to 90 percent by weight of a first fatty acid amide and 90 to 10 percent by weight of a second fatty acid amide. The first and second fatty acid amides are compounded into a thermoplastic polymer carrier resin and, preferentially, produced as concentrate pellets containing 0.5 to 75 percent by weight total fatty acid amide loading. The concentrate pellets are introduced into a thermoplastic polymer base, to form a thermoplastic resin, at a letdown level in the range of about of 1 to 15 percent, with the range of 2 to 10 percent being preferred, and the range of 3 to 6 percent being most preferred.

Thermoplastic constructs with improved softness

Ethylene copolymers are prepared with comonomers selected from (a) α-olefins, (b) cycloolefins and (c) polyenes, with a content of ethylene units of between 80 and 99 mol %, a content of units derived from α-olefin, cycloolefin and/or polyene comonomers of between 1 and 20 mol %, characterized in that: (a) in TREF (Temperature Rising Elution Fractionation) analysis, a quantity equal to at least 90 % by weight of the copolymer is eluted within a temperature interval of less than 50 °C, and (b) Mw/Mn > 3, where Mw is the weight-average molecular weight and Mn is the number-average molecular weight, both determined by means of GPC.

Ethylene copolymers, process for the preparation of ethylene-based polymers and catalyst system used therein

A resin composition for extruded forms that has improved workability, and excellent properties with respect to transparency, heat resistance, low-temperature resistance, etc. The composition contains 50 to 99 % by weight of component A, which is a copolymer of ethylene and α -olefin, and 1 to 50 % by weight of component B, which is an ethylene-containing polymer. The component A has: (a) a melt flow rate (MFR) of 0.1 to 5 g/10 min.; (b) a density D of 0.88 to 0.925 g/cm³; (c) a single peak of elution volume indicated by an elution curve obtained by temperature rising elution fractionation (TREF), the peak corresponding to a temperature within a range of from 30 to 100°C, and the elution curve satisfying a relationship in which the ratio H/W is not less than 1 when H represents the height of the peak and W represents the width of the elution curve at half of the height H; and (d) an elution volume Y (in % of the weight thereof with respect to the total weight of the component A) at an elution temperature of 50C in TREF, the elution volume Y satisfying the following condition: ① Y ≦ - 4500D + 4105 when the density D of the component A is less than 0.91 g/cm³, but Y ≦ 100; or ② Y ≦ 10 when the density D of the component A is not less than 0.91 g/cm³. The component B has: (a') a melt flow rate of 0.1 to 20 g/10 min.; (b') a density of 0.88 to 0.93 g/cm³; (c') a memory effect (ME) of not less than 1.3; and (d') a melt tension (MT) of not less than 1.0 g.
