@ Apparatus for regenerating a clock pulse signal from a stream of data derived from a variable-speed digital video tape recorder (20) and lacking a strong clock pulse component, comprises a first phase-locked loop circuit (21) to which the incoming data is supplied and which includes a loop filter (34) of relatively wide bandwidth and a first voltage controlled oscillator (35). The first voltage controlled oscillator (35) supplies a regenerated clock pulse signal to a second phase-locked loop circuit (22) which includes a loop filter (38) of relatively narrow bandwidth and a second voltage controlled oscillator (39) which supplies a regenerated output clock pulse signal. The first and second voltage controlled oscillators (35, 39) are controlled by a preset control signal derived by a preset control signal generator arrangement (23) in dependence on the direction and speed of a magnetic tape (10) from which the video tape recorder (20) is reproducing the stream of data.

Digital video tape recorder apparatus

Video signals (Y, U, V) from a telecine machine are accompanied by a blemish signal (D) obtained for example by infra-red scanning of a colour film) indicating the presence of scratches, dirt etc. This controls a switch (22) to substitute information from another part of the film (e.g. the previous frame, from a frame store 33). To prevent substitution with information also containing blemishes, the blemish signal in respect of the substitute information is made available (flag store 36) to suppress the substitution and switch to an alternative source such as a interpolator (31). The use of a movement detector, (not shown) to suppress substitution from another frame when motion occurs, is also described. The circuitry can be adapted for use in conjunction with a videotape dropout detector.

Concealment of defects in a video signal

Described is a method for PCM signal recording in which, when single-channel or multichannel PCM signals are recorded so that one-channel PCM signals are recorded in plural recording tracks, the input PCM signals of one channel are correspondingly distributed to the plural recording tracks with at least one word as a unit, and in which the distributed plural signals are subjected to an encoding operation independently of one another and are recorded on the plural recording tracks. In distributing the input PCM signals by word units, word groups consisting of a predetermined number of consecutive words are sequentially distributed to the recording tracks, or plural consecutive words equal in number to the number of recording tracks are distributed to the tracks. In encoding, the input words are separated as a function of whether the input word numbers are odd or even, and the words thus separated are subjected to time delaying or interleaving operations, after which the odd and even number words are synthesized.

Method of recording odd and even words of one channel PCM signals in plural tracks

An electronic still camera has a video recording feature and, in addition, an audio recording feature. The electronic still camera can control video recording timing and audio recording timing in accordance with the user's desires. The electronic still camera is also provided with a remote control system which can control video recording timing and audio recording timing in a mutually variable timing relationship. The electronic still camera has a video recording system and an audio recording system built into the camera, a data recording system including a recording medium for receiving video data from the video recording system and audio data from the audio recording system for recording and reproduction, and a remote control system associated with the video recording system and audio recording system for operating the video recording system and audio recording system. The remote control system can be used to adjust the video recording timing and audio recording timing relative to each other. Preferably, the remote control system includes manually operable device for operating the video recording system and the audio recording system at different timings. More preferably, the manually operable device has a remote controller which includes a independent video recording and audio recording switches.

A digital video signal reproducing apparatus comprises a reproducing circuit for reproducing a digital video signal from a recording medium, which digital video signal is added with at least a write-in specifying code and a read-out specifying code for specifying a memory circuit part to picture element data groups which are obtained by subjecting a video signal to a digital pulse modulation, a detecting circuit for detecting the write-in specifying code and the read-out specifying code within a reproduced digital video signal from the reproducing circuit, a generator for generating various synchronizing signals and reference signals, first and second memory circuit parts each having a memory capacity for storing picture element data corresponding to one picture, a write controller for causing the picture element data to be written into one of the first and second memory circuit parts according to a value of the write-in specifying code, a latch circuit for latching the read-out specifying code by a vertical synchronizing signal generated from the generator, a read controller for causing stored picture element data to be successively read out from one of the first and second memory circuit parts according to a value of the read-out specifying code from the latch circuit, and a circuit for converting the picture element data read out from the first and second memory circuit parts to an analog video signal.

Digital video signal reproducing apparatus

A time base correcting apparatus is disclosed which is capable of correcting time base errors contained in a digital signal supplied thereto in the form of successive data blocks with each data block including plural data words. Each data block includes therein at least plural data words and a block address circulating with a predetermined phase relation relative to a certain reference signal. A memory is provided, having plural addressable storage locations, each adapted to store a respective data block. A write-in address to identify the particular storage locations is generated according to data block addresses and read-out addresses. The write-in address is varied by a lock phase mode signal indicative of a phase relation at which an incoming digital signal is locked to a reference signal so that notwithstanding the phase mode in which the digital signal is locked to the reference signal, the correction ability of the time base correcting apparatus can be prevented from being lowered.
