Coulomb-type vibration absorber for suspended cables and single suspended cable combined therewith
Olaf Nigol,Herbert J. Houston +1 more
TL;DR: A vibration absorber for attachment to a single conductor suspended transmission line to suppress vertical aeolian vibrations is described in this paper, where a clamp arm has one end attached to a suspended cable and another end rotatably coupled to a housing having a weight extending therefrom through two frictionally-engaged elements which provide coulomb friction when the clamp arm is caused to rotate relative to the housing as a result of said vibrations.
PatentDOI
Coulomb-type vibration absorber for suspended cables and suspended cable combined therewith
Olaf Nigol,Herbert J. Houston +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a vibration absorber for attachment to suspended cables such as electrical transmission lines is presented, to suppress vertical aeolian vibrations as well as horizontal subconductor oscillations.
PatentDOI
Bellows-type vibration absorber for suspended cables and suspended cable in combination therewith
Olaf Nigol,Herbert J. Houston +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a clamp arm has one end attached to a suspended cable and a fulcrum adjacent the other end to suppress vertical aeolian vibrations as well as horizontal subconductor oscillations.
PatentDOI
Method and apparatus for testing and/or adjusting vibration absorber for suspended cables
Olaf Nigol,Herbert J. Houston +1 more
TL;DR: A pendulum type vibration absorber tester/adjuster as discussed by the authors enables vibration absorbers to be set to a desired damping in the factory by mathematically determining the pendulum weight and arm length.

Negative corona shielding of line and station hardware
TL;DR: In this paper, a conductor support member includes an external surface having a first portion thereon, which is shaped to generate a localized increase in voltage gradient, and shielding means including surfaces intersecting to define a sharp edge are provided to promote a negative corona discharge adjacent the first portion.
