Influence of a selected hardener on the phase separation in epoxy/thermoplastic polymer blends

TL;DR: In this paper, a low molecular weight thermoplastic PES : PEES copolymer, bearing amine reactive end groups, was blended with a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (EPON828) epoxy resins.
Journal ArticleDOI

Endocrine-Disrupting Compounds: An Overview on Their Occurrence in the Aquatic Environment and Human Exposure

TL;DR: This review aims to guide future research towards a deeper knowledge of EDCs’ contamination and accumulation in water, highlighting their toxicity and exposure risks to humans.
Journal ArticleDOI

Utilization of chemically oxidized polystyrene as co-substrate by filamentous fungi.

TL;DR: In fungal degradation tests deploying Curvularia species, the fungus colonized the oxidized samples within 9 weeks and colonization was confirmed by microscopic examination, which showed that the hyphae had adhered to and penetrated the polymer's structure in all the treated samples.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microplastics in the Environment: Intake through the Food Web, Human Exposure and Toxicological Effects.

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of MP occurrence, distribution, and quantification is presented, where the authors discuss the microplastic presence not only in the most investigated sources, such as seafood, drinking water, and salts, but also in other foods such as honey, sugar, milk, fruit, and meat (chickens, cows, and pigs).
Journal ArticleDOI

Nitrate Removal from Wastewater through Biological Denitrification with OGA 24 in a Batch Reactor

TL;DR: In this article, a thorough study of denitrifying performances of the bacterium Azospira sp. OGA 24, recently isolated from the highly polluted Sarno river in the south of Italy, was conducted.
