Classic multi-criteria group decision making models that have a high amount of alternatives are unmanageable for the experts. This is because they have to provide one value per each alternative and criteria. In this paper, we focus on solving this issue by carrying out multi-criteria group decision making methods using a different novel approach. Concretely, fuzzy ontologies reasoning procedures are used in order to automatically obtain the alternatives ranking classification. Thanks to our novel methodology, experts only need to provide the importance of a small set of criteria values making it possible for experts to perform multi-criteria group decision making procedures that have a high amount of alternatives without having to directly deal with them. Furthermore, in order to allow experts to provide their preferences in a comfortable way, multi-granular fuzzy linguistic modelling is used in order to allow each expert to choose the linguistic label set that better fits him/her.

Adaptive interface ecosystems in smart cities control systems

Currently, there are many problems of the application development of E-Assessment such as the difficulty to use the assessment object from a platform to another one. In addition, the domain model reuse rate is very low in various application systems, and hardness to guarantee the consistency between designs and codes. Therefore, to resolve these problems, we need an approach aiming to automate the modeling and coding processes in e-assessment system. The present study describes an approach, based on service cloud computing, for integrating e-assessment functionalities of candidate LMS systems into a generalized e-assessment process. The proposed approach is based on three steps. The first step consists on development of generic e-assessment process based on reverse engineering. The second step describes a set mapping rules to adapt this generic e-assessment process on the learning profiles. To ensure more flexibility in the generated e-assessment process, we create a composite cloud service that's defining the mapping rules. The third step consists of defining the resulting e-assessment process as a composite cloud service allowing flexibility and interoperability between any LMS e-assessment.

El proceso autonomo de aprendizaje en entornos virtuales requiere la recomendacion de recursos educativos digitales, ya que cuando los estudiantes entran a buscar un recurso es dificil encontrar los materiales adecuados y acordes a sus necesidades y para apoyar su proceso de aprendizaje. En esta tesis se propone un modelo generico para la recomendacion hibrida y adaptativa de recursos educativos digitales, que ayude a los estudiantes en las dificultades a las que se enfrentan para acceder a materiales relevantes para su aprendizaje. En el modelo se adaptan las tecnicas, enfoques y algoritmos a la informacion disponible de items y de usuarios. Asimismo, se proponen dos estrategias de aplicacion y uso, la primera plantea una metodologia para la seleccion guiada de componentes de recomendacion y la segunda integra todas las caracteristicas de usuarios y de items en factorizacion de matrices para entregar resultados relevantes; aprovechando los datos disponibles desde diferentes fuentes. La validacion se hace para ambas estrategias y los resultados son promisorios en cuanto a la relevancia de los materiales encontrados, segun el perfil del estudiante. Adicionalmente, se plantea un sistema de recomendacion que persuade al usuario a utilizar los materiales recomendados para el, segun un enfoque hibrido a traves de la argumentacion. Finalmente, el modelo propuesto puede ser aplicado a diferentes contextos educacionales, con distintos perfiles de usuario y con recursos heterogeneos.

Modelo genérico para la recomendación híbrida y adaptativa de recursos educativos digitales

The aim of this research is to develop a prototype of a multi-agent systems (MAS), which manages the resources and activities in a smart classroom (SaCI). We developed three specific objectives. First, we designed the architecture of the MAS that manages the resources and activities in a virtual learning environment (VLE), for which we used the related works on MAS in a VLE. Second, we implement the architecture of the MAS, the prototype proposed has been called GREAC (Gestion de Recursos y Actividades), which considers the learning style (LS) of the student to manage the resources and activities in an adaptive way, and uses the methodology Prometheus, Moodle 3.6 (VLE), and the framework Jade, for the development of the prototype of the MAS. Third, we evaluated the prototype GREAC in a SaCI in an academic context. In the evaluation participated 54 students from the Universidad Nacional de Loja, of the Carrera de Ingenieria en Sistemas. As a result of the evaluation by the students, we obtained a level of satisfaction 92.6 %. Finally, this work concludes that the implementation of a MAS in a VLE allows the dynamic management of resources and activities, taking into account the students LS, allowing an adaptive and personalized management.

Multi-Agent Systems for the Management of Resources and Activities in a Smart Classroom

Contexto: existen muchos repositorios de recursos educativos que permiten buscar y recuperar objetos de aprendizaje, de esta forma se puede tener acceso a millones de recursos educativos; sin embargo, se requiere mejorar la presentacion, visualizacion y satisfaccion de uso de dichos objetos de aprendizaje, teniendo en cuenta las preferencias y necesidades de los estudiantes. Metodo: el objetivo de este articulo es incorporar una interfaz adaptativa personalizada a un sistema multiagente con el fin de recomendar objetos de aprendizaje, desde repositorios locales y remotos utilizando el perfil cognitivo de los estudiantes. Resultados: la validacion del prototipo se realizo a traves de un caso de estudio en el cual la interfaz adapto tanto la presentacion como la visualizacion de los objetos de aprendizaje a traves de las preferencias, necesidades y caracteristicas de los estudiantes. Conclusiones: se puede concluir que las interfaces adaptativas personalizadas demuestran su eficacia y representan entonces un gran aporte en los entornos de e-learning, debido a que modifican en tiempo real la visualizacion y la presentacion, teniendo en cuenta el perfil cognitivo del aprendiz.

Interfaces adaptativas personalizadas para brindar recomendaciones en repositorios de objetos de aprendizaje

Domestic violence is a common problem in society. This type of violence can be understood as a behaviour pattern in the form of physical and/or sexual abuse, threats, coercion, intimidation, isolation, emotional or economic abuse exercised in the field of family life against any member who forms its nucleus. Currently, numerous efforts have been made to mitigate this type of violence, on a social, legal, technological or any other level. However, this is a problem that is difficult to control due to the diversity of ways in which this pattern of behavior can be expressed and the large number of repeat offenders. In this context, it is necessary to take advantage of the benefits that technology brings to detect this type of problem early and take corrective action in time. Based on the above, this work proposes the development of a system supported by intelligent services to detect cases of violence in homes with a history of violence. The experimental results obtained from the implementation of the case study show that the incorporation of intelligent services into early domestic violence prevention systems can help to control cases of recidivism and take corrective action in advance, thus mitigating the consequences and in many cases helping to save lives.

Personalized adaptive interfaces for supporting recommendation from learning object repositories

Resumen— La fase de evaluación desempeña un rol muy importante durante el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de los estudiantes ya que a partir de esta se validan los conocimientos adquiridos por ellos y se descubren falencias y/o fortalezas. Sin embargo, la selección de preguntas por parte del profesor o de la plataforma de aprendizaje no responde a las necesidades, limitaciones y/o características de los estudiantes. En este contexto, la incorporación de mecanismos que permita abstraer de mejor manera las características del usuario para su posterior uso durante el proceso de selección de preguntas trae consigo beneficios como una mejor medición de los conocimientos, un incremento en el interés de los estudiantes, una mejor detección de falencias para la recomendación de nuevos recursos, entre otros. Con el objetivo de realizar una selección de preguntas que responda de mejor manera a las necesidades de los estudiantes, este artículo realiza una caracterización de las técnicas y modelos más relevantes para la selección de preguntas. De igual manera, se propone un modelo ontológico de evaluación adaptativa personalizado apoyado en técnicas de Inteligencia Artificial que incorpora información cognitiva y contextual relevante del estudiante para realizar una mejor selección y clasificación de preguntas durante el proceso de evaluación virtual.
