The invention relates to a rotor for a wind turbine, which wind turbine comprises: a support construction, for instance a post, a column or a spatial tube construction; and a generator supported by this support construction and having an outward protruding horizontal shaft which is rotatably mounted and carries a generator rotor forming part of the generator; which rotor comprises the following rotor parts: a hub with first coupling means for releasable rigid coupling of the hub in coaxial relation to the end of the shaft; and a number of blades which are coupled rigidly and releasably to the hub by means of respective second coupling means via the ends of their respective blade roots; wherein the hub and each blade root consist of composite material.

Hollow continuously wound filament integral structures having integral filament and resin interleafs, integral sleeves, and integral end fittings to transfer all loads, their method, and apparatus of manufacture, all center on the making and use of the filament and resin interleafs. In a preferred embodiment each interleaf has spaced leafs, arranged parallel, i.e. at a zero angle, to the longitudinal axis of each hollow continuously wound filament integral structure, of a length to extend from respective ends of the structure, over and well beyond the respective turnaround zones of the continuous filament and resin windings, so all types of loads will be fully transferred. Also each interleaf has circumferential filament and resin root wraps, wound at ninety degrees to the longitudinal axis of each hollow continuously wound filament integral structure, holding the spaced leafs in place and maintaining a circumferential strength to prevent harmful radial expansion of any integrally wound filaments and resin during their transfer of loads, to thereby keep the integral end fittings in place when they are transferring loads.

Construction of hollow, continuously wound filament load-bearing structure

The invention relates to a blade for wind-power generators. The inventive blade is divided transversely into two or more independent sections, each section comprising aerodynamic skins or walls (3) and an inner longitudinal reinforcing structure (4). In addition, the ends of the aforementioned sections are equipped with connection means comprising metal inserts (10) which are housed and fixed axially inside the walls of the inner longitudinal resistant structure.

Blade for wind-power generators

A hollow propfan aerofoil blade is provided with grooves which extend between its root and tip portions. The grooves contain filaments which are enclosed within a resin matrix material and are anchored to the root and tip portions. The filaments are arranged to be of sufficient strength to contain any of aerofoil portion of the blade in the event of any structural failure thereof.

Hollow filament wound spar structure is provided adapted for rotational hub mounting under centrifugal and bending loads. The structure comprises an integrally wound, filament and resin composite spar of a predetermined wall thickness, a fitting integrally wound therein, the fitting defining rotational hub fastening means and comprising a plug having a mechanical engagement groove circumferentially of its longitudinal axis into which the opposing spar wall portion is deflected responsive to winding fabrication of the spar wall on the fitting. Belt means additionally are provided opposite the groove locally peripherally confining the deflected spar wall portion in mechanical engagement reinforcing relation, against relative dislodgement of the spar wall portion from the plug groove in the mounted condition of the spar structure, under centrifugal and bending loads.
