A Practical Approach to Incorporate Roughness-Induced Dynamic Loads in Pavement Design and Performance Prediction

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of both pavement roughness and vehicle speed on the dynamic loads developed at the tire pavement interface are evaluated along with their effects on the performance of pavement structures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Environmental and economic feasibility of implementing Perpetual Pavements (PPs) against conventional pavements: A case study of Barranquilla city, Colombia

TL;DR: In this article , a case study on Barranquilla city (Colombia) was conducted to estimate the environmental burdens and monetary costs associated with the life cycle of three pavement alternatives, i.e., a PP, a CFP, and a CRP.
Journal ArticleDOI

Operational Assessment of Speed Control Measures on Capacity of Urban Roads in Metropolitan Area of Barranquilla, Colombia

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors focus on the impact of Traffic Calming Measures through electronic devices on urban or inner cities roads (capacity and operating speed on them) and evaluate the operational impact of speed cameras and the data of vehicular speed and flow collected through them in four main roads of the city of Barranquilla in Colombia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of Walking as Sustainable Transport and Energy Generator - Case Study: Barranquilla, Colombia

TL;DR: In this article , the authors presented the analysis of piezoelectric power generation on the main street in the city of Barranquilla, Atlántico (Colombia), considering the pedestrian volume and the level of service of the sidewalks, according to the geometry of the road an energy consumption is estimated, then this data is compared with pedestrian accessibility indices (walkability index) of the city, with the aim of defining the functionality and applicability of the measure for the generation of energy from innovative and environmentally friendly sources.
