Rf Circuit Design

Using EDA tool for simulation and design of the low noise amplifier, the design and production of RF low noise amplifier has accelerated. LNA is designed using BSIM3 0.13μm technology for 2.4 GHz ISM band using ADS tool, based on cascode topology using feed forward cancellation (FDC) technique. To improve linearity, feed forward cancellation technique has been used. The desired LNA has excellent linearity, moderate gain and considerable matching of input impedance. The designed LNA is having S 11 = −5.562 dB, S 21 =10.976 dB, NF=10.26 dB and IP 3 =17.0 dBm.

A High Linearity and Moderate Gain LNA for Receiver Front-End Applications in 2.4GHz ISM Band

This paper presents the design and simulation of low noise amplifier (LNA) for wireless applications operating in the 2.4–2.5 GHz band. In this paper inductive source degeneration topology has been used to provide low noise figure, high forward gain and low power consumption. The simulation was made using Advance Design System (ADS) software. Proposed work emphasis on reduction in noise figure with increase in power gain at low power consumption as compared to previous results at 1.2V power supply.

A low power high gain low noise amplifier for wireless applications

The low noise and high gain differential Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) was designed for an IEEE 802.16 Worldwide Interoperability Microwave Access (WiMAX) application. This paper presents a 3.3 GHz to 3.8 GHz CMOS LNA with differential and cascode circuits to reduce the noise figure (NF) and enhance the gain. The LNA was fabricated with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) 0.18 ��P� �3�0� VWDQGDUG� CMOS process, the cascode technique can reduce the miller effect of gate-drain capacitor Cgd in order to enhance gain, and the active balun can enhance gain and reduce noise. The circuit performances were measured by using on-wafer test. The differential LNA exhibits that the noise figure is 3.3 dB ~ 3.8 dB from3.3 GHz to 3.8 GHz, the maximum power gain S21 is 14.4±0.6 dB and S31 is 12.4 ± 0.5 dB. The output return loss S22 and S33 are less than -11 dB. The power consumption is 14.8 mW at VDD=1.2 V.

Design and Implementation of Differential LNA for WiMAX System

This paper states that an inductive source degeneration topology has been used to offer precise low noise figure (LNA), low power consumption (LPC), and high forward gain (S21). The system design and simulation of the proposed LNA is operating over the band of frequency 2.4–2.5 GHz, which is very much applicable for industrial, scientific, and medical applications. The stated work is standing on fall in noise figure through rising in power gain at low power consumption as paralleled to published preceding analysis at the power supply of 1.2 V. The system simulation was gone through using Advance Design System (ADS) software. The three different schematic designs have been presented for design and performance analysis, which start with a very basic LNA to the proposed one. 

An Inductively Degenerated LNA for ISM Applications: Design and Performance Comparison

This paper presents the design and simulation of High gain Source degenerated Cascode LNA for Wi-max and W-CDMA applications at 3.5GHz. The design uses an enhanced cascade topology to attain improved forward gain and noise figure. Th is design includes lumped elements like inductor, capacitor and resistors to design input and output matching networks. The targeted narrow-band gain, impedance matching and noise figure are achieved at the 3.5GHz. Circuit has been designed Using standard UMC 0.18μm CMOS technology and simulated in the Cadence Spectre RF tool. Targeted narrowband gain, noise figure, are 25dB and 2dB respectively. The designed circuit exhibits narrow-band gain of 27.18 dB and noise figure of 1.7 dB with Input and output return loss of -17.57 dB and -29.21 dB respectively. Circuit operates from the supply voltage of 1.8V and draws a current of 6.39mA.
