Data Mining - Concepts and Techniques.

Data mining is a process of inferring knowledge from such huge data. Data Mining has three major components Clustering or Classification, Association Rules and Sequence Analysis. By simple definition, in classification/clustering analyze a set of data and generate a set of grouping rules which can be used to classify future data. Data mining is the process is to extract information from a data set and transform it into an understandable structure. It is the computational process of discovering patterns in large data sets involving methods at the intersection of artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistics, and database systems. The actual data mining task is the automatic or semi-automatic analysis of large quantities of data to extract previously unknown interesting patterns. Data mining involves six common classes of tasks. Anomaly detection, Association rule learning, Clustering, Classification, Regression, Summarization. Classification is a major technique in data mining and widely used in various fields. Classification is a data mining (machine learning) technique used to predict group membership for data instances. In this paper, we present the basic classification techniques. Several major kinds of classification method including decision tree induction, Bayesian networks, k-nearest neighbor classifier, the goal of this study is to provide a comprehensive review of different classification techniques in data mining.

A study on classification techniques in data mining

It was 35 years ago since the first usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technique in geotechnical engineering, during those years many (AI) techniques were developed based in mathematical, statistical and logical concepts, but the breakthrough occurs by mimicking the natural searching and optimization algorithms. This huge development in (AI) techniques reflected on the geotechnical engineering problems. In this research, 626 paper and thesis published in the period from 1984 to 2019 concerned in applying (AI) techniques in geotechnical engineering were collected, filtered, arranged and classified with respect to subject, (AI) technique, publisher and publishing date and stored in a database. The extracted information from the database were tabulated, presented graphically and commented. The main conclusions is that the number of researches in this field increases almost exponentially, the most used (AI) technique is the Artificial Neural Networks and its enhancements where it is presents about half the researches and finally correlating soil and rock properties is the most addressed subject with about 30% of the researches.

35 Years of (AI) in Geotechnical Engineering: State of the Art

Agricultural research has been profited by technical advances such as automation, data mining. Today ,data mining is used in a vast areas and many off-the-shelf data mining system products and domain specific data mining application soft wares are available, but data mining in agricultural soil datasets is a relatively a young research field. The large amounts of data that are nowadays virtually harvested along with the crops have to be analyzed and should be used to their full extent. This research aims at analysis of soil dataset using data mining techniques. It focuses on classification of soil using various algorithms available. Another important purpose is to predict untested attributes using regression technique, and implementation of automated soil sample classification.

Soil Classification deals with the systematic categorization of soils based on distinguished characteristics as well as criteria. We developed Data Mining techniques like: GATree, Fuzzy Classification rules and Fuzzy C - Means algorithm for classifying soil texture in agriculture soil data. In this paper, we give a comparative study of developed algorithms. The study is used to compare and analyze the soil data.

Summary Text mining has been defined as “the discovery by computer of new, previously unknown information, by automatically extracting information from different written resources” [6]. Many other industries and areas can also benefit from the text mining tools that are being developed by a number of companies. This paper provides an overview of the text mining tools and technologies that are being developed and is intended to be a guide for organizations who are looking for the most appropriate text mining techniques for their situation. This paper also concentrates to design text and data mining tool to extract the valuable information from curriculum vitae according to concerned requirements. The tool clusters the curriculum vitae into several segments which will help the public and private concerns for their recruitment. Rule based approach is used to develop the algorithm for mining and also it is implemented to extract the valuable information from the curriculum vitae on the web. Analysis of Curriculum vitae is until now, a costly and manual activity. It is subject to all typical variations and limitations in its quality, depending of who is doing it. Automating this analysis using algorithms might deliver much more consistency and preciseness to support the human experts. The experiments involve cooperation with many people having their CV online, as well as several recruiters etc. The algorithms must be developed and improved for processing of existing sets of semi-structured documents information retrieval under uncertainity about quality of the sources.

Knowledge Extraction Using Rule Based Decision Tree Approach

This paper details the application of a genetic programming framework for classification of decision tree of Soil data to classify soil texture. The database contains measurements of soil profile data. We have applied GATree for generating classification decision tree. GATree is a decision tree builder that is based on Genetic Algorithms (GAs). The idea behind it is rather simple but powerful. Instead of using statistic metrics that are biased towards specific trees we use a more flexible, global metric of tree quality that try to optimize accuracy and size. GATree offers some unique features not to be found in any other tree inducers while at the same time it can produce better results for many difficult problems. Experimental results are presented which illustrate the performance of generating best decision tree for classifying soil texture for soil data set.

Soil Classification Using GATREE

The distribution of soil classes is an important factor in agricultural soils. In order to generate the soil classification, fuzzy soil classifications were developed to provide the means to characterize and quantify the soil classes. This paper presents an index of fuzzy soil classification generated by Fuzzy C-means classification. The ability of classification of the soils is tested with a Soil database. Fuzzy c-means approach is also capable of handling the uncertainty existing in soil parameters. As a result, fuzzy c-means clustering can be successfully applied to classify soils.
