Ultrasonic study on binary mixture containing dimethylformamide and methanol over the entire miscibility range (0 < x < 1) at temperatures 303–323 K

Dielectric constant (e’) and dielectric loss (e") of n-propyl alcohol (PA), ethylenediamine (EDA) and their binary mixtures, for different mole fractions of ethylenediamine have been experimentally measured at 11.15 GHz microwave frequency. Values of density (ρ), viscosity (η) and square refractive index (nD2) of binary mixtures as well as those of pure liquids are reported. Excess square refractive index, viscosity and activation energy of viscous flow have also been estimated. These parameters have been used to explain the formation of complexes in the system.

Dielectric studies of binary mixtures ofn-propyl alcohol and ethylenediamine

The ultrasonic velocity, density and viscosity have been measured for the liquid mixtures of cresols namely, mcresols, o-cresols and p-cresols with N,N-Dimethyl formamide (DMF) in CCl4 at 303, 308 and 313°K. The experimental data have been used to calculate the acoustical parameters such as adiabatic compressibility (β), free length (Lf), free volume (Vf), internal pressure (πi), acoustic impedance (Z) and molar volume (Vm). The excess values of some of the above parameters have also been evaluated and fitted to Redlich-Kister Polynomials and the results are interpreted in terms of molecular interactions present in the mixtures.

The values of '  and "  have been used to evaluate the loss tangent ( tan ), molar polarization (P12), apparent polarization (P2) and a.c. conductivity ( p  ). From the studied system indicates that the solute-solvent type of interaction taking place. Density, viscosity and refractive index measurement of binary liquid mixtures were carried out at 30 0 C. The values of viscosity have been used to evaluate the activation energy (Ea). The surface tension has been experimentally determined for pure liquid and binary liquid mixtures at 30 0 C.These parameters have been used to explain the formation of 1:1 complex in the system.

Values of dielectric constant (e′) and loss factor (e″) have been experimentally determined for binary liquid mixtures of ethyl methyl ketone+ethylenediamine and methyl isobutyl ketone+ethylenediamine at 9.44 GHz microwave frequencies at 30°C. The values ofe′ ande″ have been used to evaluate the molar polarization, apparent polarization and the excess permittivities. Excess refractive index, viscosity and activation energy of viscous flow have also been estimated. These parameters have been used to explain the formation of 1:1 complexes for both the systems.
