Towards a blacker, edgier and larger proton
TL;DR: In this article, the preliminary SPS p p collider results strongly suggest that the elastic p p profile becomes more opaque and edgier and increases in range (Blacker, Edgier, Larger or BEL behaviour) compared to the elastic pp profile at the ISR.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quark-gluon model for diffraction at high energies
TL;DR: The inclusion of a real part for the elastic amplitude, the removal of multiple diffraction zeros, and the behavior of the model up to the multi-TeV energy range (the Froissart bound is not saturated) are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Forward scattering amplitudes in semi-hard QCD
TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that the observation by UA4 of a high energy ρ value (real-to-imaginary ratio of the forward p p amplitude) in excess of what had been predicted is accommodated by QCD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Theoretical implications of Fermilab Tevatron total and elastic differential-cross-section measurements.
TL;DR: Using Fermilab Tevatron experiment E710 results, it is deduced that {rho} at 546 GeV is well below the central UA4 value of 0.24, defusing this number as a crucial issue.
Journal ArticleDOI
Does the proton look BEL at super-t and supercolliders?
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the proton turns BEL (Blacker, Edgier, Larger) as its energy increases from the CERN ISR to the collider, and it seems to be tending slowly toward the step-function profile of the famous Froissart-Martin bound.
