Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of the surface morphology of adult Schistosoma japonicum (Chinese, Philippine and Indonesian strains) by scanning electron microscopy
Prasert Sobhon,T. Koonchornboon,H.C. Yuan,Edward Suchart Upatham,P. Saitongdee,M. Krautrachue,P. Bubphaniroj,P. Vongpayabal +7 more
TL;DR: Comparison of the surface morphology of adult Schistosoma japonicum (Chinese, Philippine and Indonesian strains) by scanning electron microscopy shows that among males there are differences in the number and distribution of papillae and the pattern of ridges and among females, the surfaces of females are relatively similar.
Journal ArticleDOI
Scanning electron microscopic study of the tegumental surface of adult Schistosoma mekongi.
P. Vongpayabal,Prasert Sobhon,Edward Suchart Upatham,Chaitip Wanichanon,V. Mitranond,Nongnuj Tanphaichitr,V. E. C. Tumbel +6 more
TL;DR: The tegument of the female differs from that of the male by having numerous short spines over the whole surface; however, the pleomorphic papillae are much fewer in number and the ridges are much less developed than those of the Male Schistosoma mekongi.
Journal Article
Microtopography of the surface of adult Schistosoma japonicum-like (Malaysian) as observed by scanning electron microscopy.
Prasert Sobhon,Edward Suchart Upatham,T. Koonchornboon,Porncharn Saitongdee,V Khunborivan,H.C. Yuan,P. Vongpayabal,C. K. Ow-Yang,G J Greer +8 more
TL;DR: The surface of adult Schistosoma japonicum-like (Malaysian) was studied by scanning electron microscopy and found that among male member there are some unique differences in the types, number and distribution of surface papillae and morphology of ridges.
