One of the most important and potential problems encountered in an official online letter management application is the recipients' late response. This action research aims to improve the recipients' response time and determine the central core of shyness according to response time categories: less than 24 hours (green zone); between 24 hours to 48 hours (orange zone); and more than 48 hours (red zone) in managing formal online letter management system at Jambi University. Using the social representation theory of shyness as the basis of action adopted from Moscovici theory [1], it is hypothesized that response time displaying will impact response time improvement. A survey questionnaire distributed to 129 respondents showed a significant improvement in the participants' response time, respectively, in cycles 1 and 2. The zone group increased percentage sed from 22.44% to 52.49 % in the first cycle, and it ultimately raised to 62.38% at the end of the second cycle. Such an increase might be due to the users' efforts to avoid the level of shyness, which were classified into: (1) slow to respond and (2) personal or work unit late response time – both marked in red. It is recommended that social shyness incorporated in improving response time in a formal online letter can be further implemented with other social and psychological parameters. The application will illustrate computer systems' interaction on social society to implement regulations both in institutions and in government.

Improving the Response Time of Online Letter Management Application Users: an Application of Social Representation Theory of Shame

Teaching axiomatic representation of mathematical objects in all grades can and should be done. The paper analyzes students' understanding and how they perceive theorems using problem posing. We looked at how English-language learners create questions about four geometric theorems from a 9th-grade math textbook. The analysis looks at the question's distinctiveness, its elements' relationships, and sentence structure flaws. These lines, angle, and triangle theorems were chosen to exemplify problem scenarios when a theorem is conveyed in words but not explicitly symbolized. The difficulty of posing mathematically relevant problems stems from the required process of simultaneously changing the theorem language, home language, and formal mathematics language. In Van Hiele's methodology, the pupils' issues aren't classified as a formal or informal deduction. Questions either deduce from a formal system or emphasize theorems. Mastering the required representation registers can assist students in posing problems that reflect, at the very least, at the formal deduction level. The absence of symbolic representation increases the difficulty in posing original problems involving geometric theorems. As a result, how problems are made, especially how they are written, shows how well students understand math through problem-posing.

Students’ understanding of a geometric theorem: A case of grade 9 problem posing

Abstract Although representation may be a recurrent theme in research on journalism and advertising, as well as in studies of other social discourses, there may be less clarity regarding its epistemological and methodological aspects. One example is the frequent use of Social Representations Theory (Moscovici), despite its research object is a cognitive phenomenon. Beginning with a literature review in which I examine several sources (for example, sign theory, the philosophy of language, and rhetoric), the following article presents a theory of discursive representation, as well as associated semiotic, epistemological, and methodological theories. My aim is to provide a conceptual framework to help guide and prompt further research in this area.

Este articulo muestra los resultados preliminares de un estudio exploratorio de caracter cuantitativo que tiene por objetivo someter a prueba la eficacia del Modelo de Convergencia de Contextos de Sustentabilidad y Comunicacion, previamente testeado en companias ecuatorianas, y reconocer las variables clave de una eficiente comunicacion para la sostenibilidad en el contexto latinoamericano. Para ello, muestra los resultados de encuestas realizadas a gerentes de asuntos corporativos de grandes empresas de Ecuador, Colombia y Chile, y su interpretacion desde la perspectiva de los perfiles culturales elaborados por Hofstede Insights para cada pais. Los resultados muestran que la cultura nacional influye en las estrategias de comunicacion para la sostenibilidad: por ejemplo, la orientacion de las empresas ecuatorianas hacia el bien comun puede explicarse por su tendencia cultural al colectivismo; la inclinacion a la rendicion de cuentas, propia de las organizaciones en Chile, guarda relacion con la orientacion cultural hacia una mayor exigencia en torno a derechos civiles e individuales, y la preocupacion que se evidencia en Colombia por los intereses de los publicos esta relacionada con la tendencia cultural hacia la planificacion y presupuestacion.

Influencia de la cultura nacional en la gestión de comunicación para la sostenibilidad

In 2013, Coca-Cola Life was introduced to the Chilean market. It is a carbonated beverage whose main characteristic is the use of stevia as a sweetener, which meant that it have fewer calories and a more natural composition than regular Coke. However, and despite the boom in green consumption—more attentive to the ecological and sanitary attributes of products— two years after its launch, low sales led to its withdrawal from the market... a situation that the product has lived in other latitudes. From a cultural branding approach, this study describes the discursive keys of the Coca-Cola Life brand to discover why it failed to connect with consumers, despite having the attributes to be considered an ‘iconic brand.’ The results show that the campaigns on Twitter in Chile (140 ads, between 2013 and 2015) superficially represented environmental issues and interests.

This article presents two perspectives from which propaganda can be considered a prevailing practice among the forms of organizational communication management, specifically if their aims are to obtain a ‘social license’. The first is the traditional view, according to which propaganda use symbolic values to persuade ​​in search of attitudinal and behavioral changes; the second, a contemporary approach in which propaganda is a form of advertising dedicated to the dissemination of ‘public goods’, symbolic objects associated to mutual benefits and collective goals. Looking for ways of identifying this contents, is presented the difference utopia/dystopia, which when applied to the analysis of HidroAysen and “Patagonia without dams” campaigns allow to argue that they are expressions of propaganda, because both point to the change in attitudes and show ‘public goods’, and both have renowned dystopian variables (of ‘non-realized order’) in their messages.

La distopía de las propagandas industrial y ambientalista

This paper shows part of the results of a study on the rhetorical use of values in the communication of corporate social responsibility in Chile: In particular, an analysis of the discourse applied to the letters from Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) which were included in the reports of the ten companies that led the Corporate Sustainability Ranking, prepared in 2017 by the Prohumana Foundation. To face this challenge, a model of rhetorical - communicational analysis that considers argumentation principles by values was elaborated (Perelman and Olbrechts - Tyteca, 1994, Bellenger, 1992).The results show that the letters are addressed to a particular audience (the stakeholders), that they are hybrid rhetorical expressions (of judicial and epidictic nature), and that specific values, such as responsibility and effectiveness, prevail in them. These values pretend to logically and ethically sustain the companies’ argument or story, implying a level of agreement: The reader is committed not to discuss or deny himself in the existence of the validity of values and, from that perspective, he aspires to eliminate resistance or criticism of financial, environmental and social management. In this sense, the premise that sustainability reports are representative texts of corporate identity and strategies is confirmed.
