Journal ArticleDOI

Alpha shape based design space decomposition for island failure regions in reliability based design

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed Alpha shapes, a computational geometry technique to approximate the boundaries of the failure domain to estimate reliability and perform optimization of a tube impacting a rigid wall and a tuned mass damper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Participatory Model Calibration for Improving Resource Management Systems: Case Study of Rainwater Harvesting in an Indian Village

TL;DR: A participatory framework to identify criteria and their weights are used as parameters to develop a quantitative model for evaluating efficiency of each resource management system and can be used to plan other resource management systems in various regions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Estimating probabilistic fatigue of Nitinol with scarce samples

TL;DR: In this article, the cumulative distribution function of the fatigue life in a transformed space using a third order polynomial subject to monotonicity constraint is estimated using bootstrap and it is observed that the life quantiles with reasonable accuracy can be estimated even with 10 samples.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of Diagnostic Value of Mediastinum for Differentiation of Drug Sensitive, Multi and Extensively Drug Resistant Tuberculosis using Chest X-rays

TL;DR: In this paper , the shape features from each lung and mediastinum masks are extracted and analyzed. And the proposed segmentation methods are able to delineate lungs and mediASTinum from the CXR images.
Journal ArticleDOI

A survey of machine learning techniques in structural and multidisciplinary optimization

TL;DR: A survey of this wide but disjointed literature on ML techniques in the structural and multidisciplinary optimization field and how ML can accelerate design synthesis and optimization is presented.
