\n This study presents an analytical model analysis of reflection/transmission characteristics of long-period fiber Bragg grating (LPFBG) by using coupled mode theory. Reflected signal power is deeply studied against grating length at the optimum operating signal wavelength of 1550 nm for the proposed and previous models. Reflectivity and transmission coefficient are also clarified versus operating wavelength for the previous model and proposed a model with a central wavelength of 1550 nm, Δn = 0.003 and optimum grating length of 30 mm. In the same way, the reflectivity and transmission coefficient are outlined against relative refractive grating difference step at the optimum wavelength of 1550 nm and optimum grating length of 30 mm. The optimum LPFBG can be achieved with the optimum grating length of 30 mm, operating wavelength of 1550 nm and relative refractive grating difference step of 0.3 %.

Analytical Model Analysis of Reflection/Transmission Characteristics of Long-Period Fiber Bragg Grating (LPFBG) by Using Coupled Mode Theory

\n This study outlines the high-speed light sources in high-speed passive optical local area communication networks. Directly modulated laser measured is selected as a light source for data rate transfer of 40 Gb/s for propagation range up to 20 km. Optical output power after fiber-optic cable is measured. Signal power amplitude, Q-factor, and data error rates after the receive side are also measured. Hybrid optical amplifier, optical filters, and electrical filters are used for upgrading the network performance operation efficiency. The study assured that the optical communication network can be extended to 20 km distance with data rates of 40 Gb/s with achieving maximum Q-factor of 14.98 and minimum data rates of 3.55 ×10–51.

High-Speed Light Sources in High-Speed Optical Passive Local Area Communication Networks

This paper presents the performance signature of the engagement of hybrid symmetrical hybrid compensation techniques for ultra wide bandwidth and ultra long haul optical transmission systems. These schemes that are namely optigrating, ideal dispersion compensation fiber Bragg Grating (IDCFBG), and dispersion compensation fiber (DCF). The combination of mixing these techniques together which is called hybrid symmetrical dispersion compensation techniques in that case. The employment of these mixing schemes is in symmetrical configuration with the presence of Erbium doped fiber amplifiers in order to upgrade optical fiber system capacity to reach transmission distance up to 432 km and transmission data rate up to 320 Gb/s. Maximum signal quality factor, minimum bit error rate (BER), output optical signal to noise ratio, electrical received power after APD photodetector, noise figure, and gain are the major interesting performance parameters for measuring the system operation efficiency.
It is observed that the optimum case for maximum quality factor and minimum BER is achieved with 15 m EDFA amplifier length and 150 mW EDFA pump power.

The Engagement of Hybrid Dispersion Compensation Schemes Performance Signature for Ultra Wide Bandwidth and Ultra Long Haul Optical Transmission Systems

\n This paper has simulated the pump laser automatic signal control for erbium-doped fiber amplifier gain, noise figure, and output spectral power. Signal gain and noise figure are deeply studied in relation to laser pump power variations at operating pumping wavelengths of 980 nm and 1,480 nm for previous and proposed models. Similar to the study of the light signal to noise ratio, output power level and maximum Q factor are also simulated versus EDFA amplifier length at pumping power of 500 mW and different pumping wavelength by using the proposed model. The obtained results are better by using a pumping wavelength of 1,480 nm than a pumping wavelength of 980 nm. The optimum EDFA amplifier is 5 m, which gives better performance than other amplifier lengths.

Pump Laser Automatic Signal Control for Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier Gain, Noise Figure, and Output Spectral Power


 This paper has deeply simulated the different configurations of pre, post, and symmetric dispersion compensation-based dispersion compensated fiber (DCF), Gaussian optic filter (GOF), and fiber Bragg grating. Output power, signal quality factor, and signal gain are the performance parameters in this study for the complete comparison for the proposed techniques for dispersion compensation. It is observed that FBG has presented the best performance parameters optimization in compared to other compensation techniques for different configurations of compensation. The FBG dispersion compensation technique is the key solution for dispersion compensation in compared with other compensation techniques that are comparatively as in previous section. It is observed that the FBG is the best dispersion compensation technique and change its location, and length, apodization, and chirp functions, to obtain the best performance of FBG and give the best quality factor, output power, and gain, FBG can be employed in different categories such as post compensation, pre compensation, and symmetric compensation with different FBG lengths, apodization, and chirp functions.

Performance Signature of Optical Fiber Communications Dispersion Compensation Techniques for the Control of Dispersion Management

2 Abstract: In this paper, dispersion compensating fibers (DCF) are used to compensate the positive dispersion accumulated over the length of the fiber at 10Gbits/sec and 250 km of optical fiber with 50 km of DCF. Three schemes (Pre-compensation, post-compensation and symmetrical-compensation) of dispersion compensation with DCF are proposed. The simulated transmission system has been analyzed on the basic of different parameters by using OptiSystem 7.0 simulator. The results of three dispersion compensation methods are compared in terms of four parameter, which are Q-factor, BER, Eye height and threshold value, investigated at the receiver end. Further, it has been observed that the system needs proper matching between EDFA gain and the length of the fiber for the optimum performance.

2 Abstract: In this paper, the 32 channel WDM system at 20 Gb/s has been investigated for the different channel spacing. The performance has been analyzed on the basis of dispersion. The comparison of BER, Q-factor and eye opening for WDM and DWDM systems at different dispersion is done. It is observed that at different dispersion 2-10 ps/nm/km the 32 × 20 Gb/s WDM system provides better results than the 32 × 20 Gb/s DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) system in the presence of nonlinearities. The analysis is done using OptiSystem 7.0 simulator.

Simulation of 32 × 20 Gb/s WDM and DWDM System at Different Dispersion

In this paper, the 16 channel and 32 channel DWDM systems at 20 Gbps have been investigated for hybrid amplifiers. The performance has been analyzed on the basis of transmission distance. The comparison of BER and Q-factor for two hybrid amplifiers EDFA+RAMAN and RAMAN+EDFA at different transmission distance is done. It is observed that for 16 × 20 Gbps and 32×20Gbps DWDM system using EDFA+RAMAN provides better results than the DWDM system using RAMAN+EDFA. The analysis is done using OptiSystem 7.0 simulator.
