Journal ArticleDOI

Nasal CPAP Reduces Gastroesophageal Reflux in Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome

TL;DR: It is believed that obstructive sleep apnea syndrome may predispose to nocturnal GER by lowering intrathoracic pressure and increasing arousal and movement frequency and Nasal CPAP can correct these predisposing factors and reduce GER.

Nasal CPAP Reduces Gastroesophageal Reflux in Obstructive Sleep Apnea

TL;DR: In this article, the authors confirmed two consecutive days of 24-h esophageal pH monitoring, nocturnal esophageral pressure recording, and polysomnography on six obstructive sleep apnea syndrome patients complaining of regular no-cturnal GER.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Inhaled 3% CO2 on Cheyne-Stokes Respiration in Congestive Heart Failure

TL;DR: It is concluded that inhalation of CO2 with a constant F1CO2 = 0.03 virtually eradicates CSR in all-night polysomnographically monitored studies in patients with severe stable CHF.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of short-term nasal CPAP on Cheyne-Stokes respiration in congestive heart failure.

TL;DR: It is concluded that short-term treatment with nasal CPAP in patients with CHF does not improve either Cheyne-Stokes respiration observed, the nocturnal oxygenation, or sleep quality.
Journal Article

The importance of nasal resistance in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.

TL;DR: Although treatment was associated with a subjective improvement in sleep quality and mean drop in nasal resistance of 73% (P less than 0.001), there was no significant improvement inSleep architecture, nocturnal oxygenation, or the amount of apnea experienced by patients.
