Journal ArticleDOI
Protein profile of the seminal plasma of collared peccaries (Pecari tajacu Linnaeus, 1758).
E.A.A. Santos,Patrícia da Cunha Sousa,Jorge Martins,Renato de Azevedo Moreira,Ana Cristina de Oliveira Monteiro-Moreira,Frederico Bruno Mendes Bastista Moreno,Moacir Franco de Oliveira,Arlindo A. Moura,Alexandre Rodrigues Silva +8 more
TL;DR: The major seminal plasma proteome of the peccary exhibits a distinct high expression of clusterin isoforms, which is crucial for an understanding of wild species reproductive biology and adaptation in a changing environment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Establishing the hypoosmotic swelling test for sperm analysis in collared peccaries (Pecari tajacu)
E.A.A. Santos,Patrícia da Cunha Sousa,G. C. X. Peixoto,Bruno Rodrigo Simão,Moacir Franco de Oliveira,Alexandre Rodrigues Silva +5 more
TL;DR: A agua destilada aparenta ser uma solucao adequada for o uso no teste hiposmotico para semen de catetos, de acordo with o aumento da osmolaridade do meio.
Journal ArticleDOI
Avaliação morfológica e morfométrica de espermatozoides de catetos (Pecari tajacu)
Patrícia da Cunha Sousa,E.A.A. Santos,A.L.P. Souza,Gabriela Liberalino Lima,F. F. P. C. Barros,Moacir Franco de Oliveira,Alexandre Rodrigues Silva +6 more
TL;DR: The tail occupies the greatest proportion of the sperm which presents a discretely elongated head through morphometric evaluation, and the use of the Bengal Rose stain is recommended for the morphologic evaluation of the collared peccary sperm.
Journal ArticleDOI
Morphology, morphometry and ultrastructure of captive six-banded armadillo (Euphractus sexcinctus) sperm.
Patrícia da Cunha Sousa,E.A.A. Santos,José Artur Brilhante Bezerra,Gabriela Liberalino Lima,T.S. Castelo,J.D. Fontenele-Neto,Alexandre Rodrigues Silva +6 more
TL;DR: The sperm characteristics of captive six-banded armadillos (Euphractus sexcinctus) are analyzed by the assessment of sperm morphology, morphometry, and ultrastructure, finding that armadillo's ejaculates present more than 80% of sperm within the range considered normal for sperm morphology currently accepted for other mammals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interactions between straw size and thawing rates on the cryopreservation of agouti (Dasyprocta aguti) epididymal sperm.
Marco Aurélio dos Santos Silva,G. C. X. Peixoto,Patrícia da Cunha Sousa,Francisco Silvestre Brilhante Bezerra,Ana Carla Diógenes Suassuna Bezerra,Alexandre Rodrigues Silva +5 more
TL;DR: It is recommended that the agouti epididymal sperm cryopreserved in ACP-109c(®) extender should be packaged in 0.25- or 0.50-ml straws and thawed at 37°C/60 s.
