Journal ArticleDOI

A model to predict poor survival in patients undergoing transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts.

TL;DR: This Mayo TIPS model may predict early death following elective TIPS for either prevention of variceal rebleeding or for treatment of refractory ascites, superior to both the Child‐Pugh classification and the Child-Pugh score in predicting survival.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis in asymptomatic outpatients with cirrhotic ascites.

TL;DR: Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis in outpatients with cirrhotic ascites is less frequent, occurs in patients with less advanced liver disease, and may have a better outcome than its counterpart in hospitalized patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Endothelin-1 modulates intrahepatic resistance in a rat model of noncirrhotic portal hypertension.

TL;DR: It is concluded that in a BDL model of portal hypertension where distortion of hepatic architecture by fibrosis is minimal, increased resistance to portal blood flow may be mediated by ET‐1.
