Journal ArticleDOI
Coronary Artery Variants and Anomalies in Patients With Bicuspid Aortic Valve.
Ilona Michałowska,Tomasz Hryniewiecki,Paweł Kwiatek,Patrycjusz Stokłosa,Urszula Swoboda-Rydz,Piotr Szymański +5 more
TL;DR: There was a trend for a higher incidence of left dominance in patients with BAV compared to those with TAV, but the prevalence of anomalies of coronary arteries was similar in both groups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Number of erythrocytes as a prognostic marker in patients undergoing heart valve surgery.
Piotr Duchnowski,Tomasz Hryniewiecki,Patrycjusz Stokłosa,Mariusz Kuśmierczyk,Piotr Szymański +4 more
TL;DR: Assessment of the predictive value of the individual parameters of blood cell counts in patients undergoing heart valve surgery found the red blood cell count (RBC) to be a good predictor of mortality and morbidity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of the common genetic polymorphisms and haplotypes of the chymase gene with left ventricular mass in male patients with symptomatic aortic stenosis.
Ewa Orłowska-Baranowska,Jarosław Góra,Rafał Baranowski,Patrycjusz Stokłosa,Lucja Gadomska vel Betka,Ewa Pędzich-Placha,Malogrzata Milkowska,Marta Koblowska,Tomasz Hryniewiecki,Zbigniew Gaciong,Grzegorz Placha +10 more
TL;DR: The polymorphisms and haplotypes of the CMA1 locus are associated with cardiac hypertrophy in male patients with symptomatic AS and substantial sex-related differences in the myocardial response to pressure overload are revealed.
Journal ArticleDOI
The impact of transcatheter aortic valve implantation on left ventricular performance and wall thickness - single-centre experience.
Patrycjusz Stokłosa,Piotr Szymański,Maciej Dąbrowski,Dariusz Zakrzewski,Piotr Michałek,Ewa Orłowska-Baranowska,Kamal El-Hassan,Zbigniew Chmielak,Adam Witkowski,Tomasz Hryniewiecki +9 more
TL;DR: The TAVI had an immediate beneficial effect on LVEF, LV walls thickness, and the incidence of msMR, which is comparable with those described in other centres.
Journal Article
Red Cell Distribution Width as a Prognostic Marker in Patients Undergoing Valve Surgery.
Piotr Duchnowski,Tomasz Hryniewiecki,Patrycjusz Stokłosa,Mariusz Kuśmierczyk,Piotr Szymański +4 more
TL;DR: The preoperative RDW in patients with valvular disease undergoing valve surgery, combined with EuroSCORE II, predicted 30-day mortality significantly better than did EuroSC score alone and improved the predictive ability of the EuroSCore II calculator.
