Journal ArticleDOI

Coronary Artery Variants and Anomalies in Patients With Bicuspid Aortic Valve.

TL;DR: There was a trend for a higher incidence of left dominance in patients with BAV compared to those with TAV, but the prevalence of anomalies of coronary arteries was similar in both groups.
Journal ArticleDOI

Number of erythrocytes as a prognostic marker in patients undergoing heart valve surgery.

TL;DR: Assessment of the predictive value of the individual parameters of blood cell counts in patients undergoing heart valve surgery found the red blood cell count (RBC) to be a good predictor of mortality and morbidity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Association of the common genetic polymorphisms and haplotypes of the chymase gene with left ventricular mass in male patients with symptomatic aortic stenosis.

TL;DR: The polymorphisms and haplotypes of the CMA1 locus are associated with cardiac hypertrophy in male patients with symptomatic AS and substantial sex-related differences in the myocardial response to pressure overload are revealed.
Journal Article

Red Cell Distribution Width as a Prognostic Marker in Patients Undergoing Valve Surgery.

TL;DR: The preoperative RDW in patients with valvular disease undergoing valve surgery, combined with EuroSCORE II, predicted 30-day mortality significantly better than did EuroSC score alone and improved the predictive ability of the EuroSCore II calculator.
