A wear assembly (10) for attaching wear members to a lip of an excavator includes a wear member, a boss (28) and a lock (60). The lip includes an inner face, an outer face, a digging edge and a series of through-holes spaced rearward of the digging edge. The bosses (28) are each fixed to a face of the lip at a position rearward of the through-holes. The wear members each include slots to receive the boss (28) adjacent their rear ends, and openings for receiving the locks (60) at a position forward of the bosses (28). The openings are aligned with the through-holes in the lip. The lock (60) includes a wedge (62) and spool arrangement (64).

In accordance with a particular embodiment of the present invention, a system for coupling excavation equipment components includes a pin assembly configured to couple a first tool body to a second tool body. The insert defines a plug bore extending at least partially through the insert from the first end. The pin assembly also includes a first plug that is configured to be received at least partially within the first end of the insert.

System and method for coupling excavation equipment components

A replaceable cutting edge for an excavating bucket comprises a number of tip adapters which are mounted in laterally spaced apart, fixed positions on the leading edge of the bucket. Each of the tip adapters has at least one pair of vertically spaced apart flanges facing an adjacent tip adapter. A cutting edge section extends between each pair of adjacent tip adapters with the ends of the cutting edge section held in vertical position by the flanges on the tip adapters. A retaining pin, in the form of a wedge member, extends through aligned openings in the flanges and in the ends of the cutting edge sections to hold the cutting edge sections in horizontal position on the bucket leading edge. Each retaining pin has a tapered surface which mates with a corresponding tapered surface in the opening of the cutting edge section to force the cutting edge section to the rear and tight against the leading edge of the bucket.

Furthermore, hard material has been applied to selective surfaces of the teeth to increse their wear life. It is advantageous to strategically size and position the application of hard material to the tooth in order to increase wear life and to simultaneously enhance the ability of the tooth to remain sharp for better penetration during the useful life of the tooth. In the subject arrangement, a first portion of hard material (32) having a predetermined width and length is applied to a bottom surface (22) of a tooth (10) and a second portion of hard material (34) having a predetermined width less than the width of the first portion of hard material is applied to a top surface (20) of the tooth. The first and second portions of hard material (32, 34) are applied extending from adjacent a transverse forward edge (28) in a longitudinal direction. The width relationship between the first and second portions of hard material (32, 34) and the location of the first and second portions of hard material (32, 34) both increase the wear life of the tooth (10) and maintains the sharpness of the tooth (10) during its useful life for better penetration of the material being worked.

An elongated steel cutting edge has an insert receiving slot formed therein extending from one end to the other. A plurality of carbide inserts of a generally rectangular solid configuration have a front face, a rear face and four sides. A plurality of upstanding protuberances are formed on and extend beyond the rear face of the inserts. The inserts are located within the slot in closely spaced side by side relationship and with the protuberances located against one of the sides of said slot. The front and rear faces of the cutting edge are brought together along the slot to cause a mechanical interlock between the protuberances of the insert and the cutting edge.

The present invention provides a flight assembly for use on a scraper having an elevator. The flight assembly includes a lateral support member having a wear plate attached thereon. A wear cap is provided on each end of the lateral support member. The wear plates and wear caps are preferably bolted to the support member.

Rebuildable elevator flight for scraper

A reversible bit for selective mounting to an earth-moving blade, such as a bulldozer blade, having opposite corner portions. The bit includes transversely extending cutting edge portions and a mounting portion adapted to be selectively mounted to opposite corners of the blade with one or the other of the cutting edge portions suitably disposed in cutting position whereby the bit provides substantially twice the normal life of the conventional blade bit.
