A power factor correction apparatus is retrofittable to an appliance having an inductive load. The apparatus includes a housing having an electrical socket on one side and an electrical plug on the other side. Inside the housing are a power factor correction circuit and a trigger circuit. The socket and plug are electrically coupled to each other by the trigger circuit which automatically couples the power factor correction circuit between the socket and the plug when current flowing to the appliance is sensed.

Provided is a method for coating glass articles with a pourable, stable aqueous based emulsion comprising an unsaturated fatty acid, e.g., oleic or linoleic acid, and an alkali metal salt thereof, wherein the weight ratio of acid to salt in the emulsion ranges from about 2:1 to about 1:1. Application of the emulsion as a coating can be readily effected at glassware temperatures below 200° F. The resultant coating is clear and transparent and provides superior lubricious and abrasion resistant properties.

According to the invention, the voltage regulation and stabilization device comprises a transformer with magnetized yokes; a switch of power winding taps of the transformer; and a control circuit incorporating a comparison unit, an intermediate amplifier, a differential power amplifier, voltage regulation margin measuring units, an electronic commutator, and a power supply for the control circuit units. The device of this invention makes it possible to expand the range of continuous voltage regulation, while maintaining a high power factor and reducing the consumption of active materials.
