The study investigates and determines an English learning course design through Moodle, the most suitable approach that develops an online environment’s essential language learners’ accomplishment outcomes. The study was conducted with the qualitative approach with a case study research design. The thirty-eight lecturers generate as respondents from Higher Education in the Jakarta area. The Design of Moodle-Based English Language Learning Environments (Case Study of Indonesian Higher Education)

Algorithmic thinking is a central concept in the context of computational thinking, and it is commonly taught by computer programming. A recent trend is to introduce basic programming concepts already very early on at primary school level. There are, however, several challenges in teaching programming at this level: Schools and teachers are often neither equipped nor trained appropriately, and the best way to move from initial "unplugged" activities to creating programs on a computer are still a matter of open debate. In this paper, we describe our experience of a small INTERREG-project aiming at supporting local primary schools in introducing children to programming concepts using Ozobot robots. These robots have two distinct advantages: First, they can be programmed with and without computers, thus helping the transition from unplugged programming to programming with a computer. Second, they are small and easy to transport, even when used together with tablet computers. Although we learned in our outreach events that the use of Ozobots is not without challenges, our overall experience is positive and can hopefully support others in setting up first encounters with programming at primary schools.

An Experience of Introducing Primary School Children to Programming using Ozobots.

The main objective of the article is (1) to introduce the adaptive model of e-learning, which was designed by the University of Ostrava, Czech Republic, and (2) to present and discuss results of two researches conducted within the model and focusing on self-study activities reflecting learners’ sensory preferences in learning English. In both researches, data were collected by standardized English grammar tests, by VARK questionnaire and non-standardized pre-tests and post-tests. Four hypotheses were tested; two of them focusing on the role of learner’s sensory preferences, other two ones examining the support of visual and aural study materials in listening comprehension and reading comprehension. Results were not statistically significant; however, slight impact of visual materials in reading comprehension and aural materials in reading comprehension was detected.

Learning English Through the Adaptive Model of e-Learning Reflecting Learner’s Sensory Characteristics

The authors of the article focus on Computation thinking. The aim of the article is any motivate the student primary and secondary (high) schools using robotic toys: Ozobot EVO. The theoretical part of the thesis consists of a description of the motivation and a description of Computational thinking. The practical part shows the topics on how to work with Ozobots and how to involve them in teaching. The level of thinking of young people is very low, for this reason, we have set ourselves the goal of developing thinking using algorithms.

Concept of outcomes evaluation model in LMS moodle conditions working in a vague background

The paper deals with new processes in e-learning to achieve the most effective path through a course for each student. In order to achieve such an ideal path through an e-learning course (here a course of the English language), a new methodology has been developed and special components have been introduced, which enabled to create an individual study plan for each student individually. New components consist of two blocks. A block consisting in finding out student’s language knowledge and a block of sensory preferences. These blocks provided input values and information for creating a verification e-course. A great benefit is that the proposed methodology used existing possibilities of a conditional progress through a course while introducing the new components enabled to create individual study plans in an automated way. This comprehensive system has been verified on a sample set of students of the bachelor study program Applied Informatics at the Department of Informatics and Computers, Faculty of Science, University of Ostrava, in winter term 2014.

Personalization of Foreign Language Education in the LMS Moodle Environment

The aim of the theme is to introduce a possibility of fuzzy queries implemented in relational databases. The issue is described on a model which identifies the appropriate part of the problem domain for fuzzy approach. The model is demonstrated on a database of wines focused on searching in it. The construction of the database complies with the Law of the Czech Republic.

The article is devoted to the issue of the construction of an intelligent tutoring system which was created by our university for implementing distance learning and combined forms of studies. Significantly higher demand for such tools occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic when distance learning was used by students in their full-time studies. Current Learning Management Systems (LMS) do not address students' individuality regarding their various levels of input knowledge and skills or their different learning styles, which, in our case, are based on sensory preferences. Therefore, this article proposes a model of an intelligent tutoring system to control learning by accentuating the individual needs of a student. The foundation stones of this system are an expert system and adaptation mechanisms. The expert system acts as a tool for the identification of students’ needs from the point of view of input knowledge and sensory preferences. Sensory preferences influence the student’s learning style. The implemented adaptation mechanisms control the progress of the student through a study unit. The model was implemented in the LMS Moodle environment. Regarding the focus of the research content, our model is oriented on the study of the English language, where each student receives a unique study plan, which is continuously adapted based on achieved results. We consider the focus on the individuality of the student to be an innovative approach that can be achieved automatically on a mass scale.
