Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics—2016 Update: A Report From the American Heart Association

Studies in Australia have found that self-management programmes for people with vision impairment can improve quality of life and decrease health service use. Conducting research with people with vision impairment raises specific scientific and operational challenges. This article describes the challenges encountered during patient recruitment into a randomised control trial evaluating a self-management programme for people with low vision in Singapore. The discussion also includes strategies to facilitate recruitment for studies with people with vision impairment.
