Learning and optimization of an aspect hidden Markov model for query language model generation
TL;DR: A new method to build the query model with latent state machine (LSM) which captures the inherent term dependencies within the query and the term dependencies between query and documents.

An Interpretable Probabilistic Approach for Demystifying Black-box Predictive Models
Catarina Moreira,Yu-Liang Chou,Mythreyi Velmurugan,Chun Ouyang,Renuka Sindhgatta,Peter Bruza +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose an approach underpinned by an extended framework of Bayesian networks for generating post hoc interpretations of a black-box predictive model, which can provide interpretations about not only what input features but also why these features contributed to a prediction.
Large scale multiuser digital mind mapping tool : a study in usability
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a novel digital, touch-enabled mind-mapping tool as a first step towards achieving such a vision, which allows an evaluation of the benefits of a digital environment for a task that would otherwise be performed on paper or flat interactive surfaces, and provide recommendations for further research into: new methods for capturing text input on touch screens; inclusion of complex structures; multi-user environments and how users make the shift from single-user applications; and how best to navigate large screen real estate in a touchenabled, co-present multiuser setting.

Modelling Dynamic Interactions between Relevance Dimensions
TL;DR: In this paper, the interaction between the relevance dimensions using the mathematical framework of Quantum Theory is studied. And the implications of their findings to inform the design of information retrieval systems are also discussed.
