Journal ArticleDOI

Probing monaural edge pitch

TL;DR: In this article, pitch matching experiments were done using 32 different low-pass and high-pass noises with edges at 500 and 600 Hz and with durations of about 50 ms, where pitch matches were made in an indefinitely repeating cycle of noises and half-second matching tones.
Journal ArticleDOI

Temporal model of edge pitch effects

TL;DR: In this article, a temporal model for these edge pitches based on population-wide all-order interspike interval distributions (summary autocorrelations, SACFs), computed using the Zilany-Bruce-Carney 2014 model of the auditory nerve.
Journal Article

Beware False Dichotomies

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors find the dichotomy of first-vs. second-order cybernetics conceptually and historically problematic because it implicitly implies that the first-order Cybernetics is inherently superior.
Journal ArticleDOI

Introduction: Music and time

TL;DR: This issue explores modeling of music and time from different points of view with an overview of Petri Toiviainen's work in tempo tracking and beat induction, and a model that predicts the beat and pattern complexity in rhythmical patterns.
Journal ArticleDOI

Neurophysiological correlates of the pitch of complex tones

TL;DR: In this paper, autocorrelation histograms were computed from auditory-nerve fibers in anesthetized cats to estimate the aggregate interspike interval distribution for the entire auditory nerve.
