Advantages of CDMA and spread spectrum techniques over FDMA and TDMA in cellular mobile radio applications

TL;DR: A unified theoretical method for the calculation of the radio capacity of multiple-access schemes such as FDMA, TDMA, CDMA, and SSMA in noncellular and cellular mobile radio systems is presented for AWGN channels and the theoretical equivalence of all the considered multiple- access schemes is found.

Apparatus for generating an alternating magnetic field and apparatus for providing an effective power from an alternating magnetic field

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented an apparatus for generating an alternating magnetic field having an effective power and comprising a first magnetic field component and a second magnetic field components, the apparatus (100) consisting a first inductive loop (110) for generating the first amplitude and a first phase, a second phase and another amplitude and phase, and the controller (130) being configured for selecting from the first relation and the second relation the relation in which the effective power of the magnetic field is higher.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optimum and suboptimum channel estimation for the uplink of CDMA mobile radio systems with joint detection

TL;DR: In this paper, the channel estimation in the uplink of CDMA mobile radio systems with burst transmission applying joint detection is considered, where the different radio channels are estimated at the receiver using known midamble codes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Joint detection with coherent receiver antenna diversity in CDMA mobile radio systems

TL;DR: In this paper, the application of coherent receiver antenna diversity (CRAD) to the more critical uplink of CDMA mobile radio systems with suboptimum joint detection (JD) techniques is investigated for maximal-ratio combining.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of turbo-code decoders applied to short frame transmission systems

TL;DR: Four different decoder structures are illustratively characterized and their error rate performance capabilities compared in both additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) as well as flat Rayleigh-fading channels based on extensive simulation results for short frames used for speech transmission in the uplink of a digital mobile radio system.
