Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: Dealing with ecological change requires statement of preservation goals, priorities, and clear policy on key issues; in addition, resource inventory, monitoring, and management-oriented research are required.

TL;DR: The oxidising ability of AsF5 is greatly enhanced by traces of bromine, and in its presence S4(AsF6)2·xSO2, (x⩽ 1) was prepared quantitatively from AsF 5 and S8 in SO2; the X-ray structures of S4AsF5 2·0.6SO2 and S4S4As6 2.6 SO2 confirm the square planar geometry of S42+ in both salts, the former having a sulphur-sulphur bond distance of

TL;DR: S2I42+ cation was found to have a distorted right triangular prismatic structure, with one S2 and two I2 units joined by weak sulphur-iodine bonds; the sulphur sulphur bond distance is the shortest reported in an isolated compound, and is indicative of the presence of a 3pπ-3pπ bond and a bond order greater than two.
Abstract: S2I42+(AsF6–)2 has been prepared and its crystal structure determined in which the S2I42+ cation was found to have a distorted right triangular prismatic structure, with one S2 and two I2 units joined by weak sulphur–iodine bonds; the sulphur–sulphur bond distance is the shortest reported in an isolated compound, and is indicative of the presence of a 3pπ–3pπ bond and a bond order greater than two.

TL;DR: In this article, an efficient, total synthesis of the phytoalexin (−)-phytuberin 10 was described starting from (−)-carvone 1, where carvone is defined as the base of the synthesis process.

TL;DR: In this paper, two new crystalline products were isolated from the chlorination of m-cresol in cold alkaline solution, which were identified as E,Z-2-chloro-5-methyl muconic acid and 5Z-carboxymethylene-3-chlorosmide-4-methyl-2(5H) furanone.

TL;DR: A total synthesis of androstane derivatives is described in this article, where the desired configuration at C8 and at C13 is achieved in a ring C forming SnCl4-catalyzed Diels-Alder reaction.
Abstract: A total synthesis of androstane derivatives is described. The desired configuration at C8 and at C13 is achieved in a ring C forming SnCl4-catalyzed Diels–Alder reaction. The preparation of methyl Z-2-methyl-4-oxo-2-pentenoate and the cyclization of a keto ester to a steroid 15,17-dione are also reported.
