Clanek prezentuje některe výsledky reprezentativniho dotaznikoveho setřeni zaměřeneho na vzdělavani dospělých realizovaneho v ramci projektu Vzdělavani dospělých v různých fazich životniho cyklu: priority, přiležitosti a možnosti rozvoje podporovaneho Ministerstvem prace a socialnich věci a realizovaneho na Ustavu pedagogických věd Filozoficke fakulty Masarykovy univerzity v Brně. Clanek se zabýva předevsim problematikou vzdělavacich potřeb coby stavu jisteho vzdělanostniho ci kompetencniho nedostatku. Řesi otazku, v jake miře cesti dospěli po ukonceni pocatecniho vzdělavani maji potřebu dale se vzdělavat a v jake miře ji skutecně realizuji. Dale jsou v textu hledany souvislosti mezi povahou vzdělavacich potřeb a individualnich charakteristik dospělých, kteři do dalsiho vzdělavani vstupuji, respektive nevstupuji. Diskutovan je vliv profesniho a ekonomickeho postaveni, vzdělani, věku i některých jemnějsich subjektivnich proměnných, jako jsou budouci životni plany jednotlivce.

Vzdělávací potřeby ve vztahu k účasti na vzdělávání dospělých

Research dealing with adult education in the Czech Republic has recently suggested that one crucial factor determining motivation and participation of adults in education is their occupational and professional context. This paper looks at these contextual variables and attempts to identify the potential of their influence on adult participation in general and to show how this influence can vary for specific groups of adults differing by factors such as their achieved education, professional status and occupational sphere. The study has produced evidence that the vision of lifelong learning for everybody is still a dream rather than reality. This observation is confirmed particularly in the area of non-formal education having to do with a person’s occupational position. The study offers a conclusion concerning the limits of empirical surveys focusing on participation of adults in learning and education undertaken so far. The author’s understanding of participation in learning and education suggests: interest in education is based on previous education history; motivation on the part of an employer to educate their employees leads to a high rate of participation in education among the employees; and people in certain occupational positions participate in education more often because they are expected to. These factors may explain, to a certain extent, why adults do participate in learning and education, but there is little to be said about why most adults do not participate in education.
