The origin of intermediate and evolved lavas in the Marquesas archipelago: an example from Nuku Hiva island (French Polynesia)
Christelle Legendre,René C. Maury,Dominique Savanier,Joseph Cotten,Catherine Chauvel,Christophe Hémond,Claire Bollinger,Gérard Guille,Sylvain Blais,Philippe Rossi +9 more
TL;DR: The Nuku Hiva Pliocene island (Marquesas, French Polynesia) is composed of a large halfcollapsed tholeiitic shield volcano (the Tekao edifice), the caldera of which is filled up by the younger Taiohae volcano as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural map of Variscan northern Sardinia (Italy)
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a geological structural map (1:100,000 scale, ∼2300 km2 surface area) of the Variscan basement of northern Sardinia, which integrates field structural analysis, extensive gamma-ray spectrometry, and high-resolution ELA-ICP-MS U/Th-Pb zircon and monazite dating.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of wrench tectonics from dating of syn- to post-magmatism in the north-western French Massif Central
Charles Cartannaz,Patrick Rolin,Alain Cocherie,Didier Marquer,Olivier Legendre,Christopher Fanning,Philippe Rossi +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the relative timing of pluton emplacement and regional deformation from new dating and structural data is established from new zircon and monazite data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence in Variscan Corsica of a brief and voluminous Late Carboniferous to Early Permian volcanic-plutonic event contemporaneous with a high-temperature/low-pressure metamorphic peak in the lower crust
TL;DR: The U2 group of plutonic rocks constituting the main exposed part of the Corsica-Sardinia batholith was emplaced from 308 to 275 Ma (the early Visean U1 group of Mg-K intrusions is not considered here) as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
