This paper presents a novel mutual identity authentication scheme which can be applied securely in Internet of Things. Based on secure hash algorithm(SHA), feature extraction and elliptic curve cryptography(ECC), we propose an asymmetric mutual authentication scheme between the platform and the terminal node, which imposes light computation and communication cost, through security analysis it is also shown that the proposed scheme is secure and feasible for applications in the Internet of Things.

A novel mutual authentication scheme for Internet of Things

Inter-car network -- a VANET (vehicular adhoc network) -- enables wireless communication between vehicles (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2X). The main goal of VANET is to render safety and convenience on the road. VANET differs from traditional networks due to its unique characteristics such as a high speed of hosts movement, a quickly changing topology, a frequent installation and disconnection of communication links. For a lack of infrastructure and centralized management, it becomes vulnerable to misbehaviors that significantly threatens different aspects of the VANET security. VANET should provide adequate security measures for the protected cyberenvironment. One of the commonly known approaches to protect a network is an intrusion detection system (IDS) that inspects a behavior of traffic and network hosts looking for the signs of the security threats and generates the alarm for any detected security anomaly. To be effective, IDS has to be trained with an adequate dataset of samples of security threats, but such task-driven datasets have not been produced for VANET so far. This paper discusses our method of synthetic generating a dataset for VANET IDS. There is a generator that allows providing datasets applying a network simulator NS-3 when investigating various types of specific cyber attacks targeted at VANET. The paper presents the existing datasets, describes our method developed to solve the task, discusses the characteristics of the resulting dataset, and shows the outcomes of simulation. The synthetically generated datasets may be applied for training the machine learning-based VANET IDSs being used to detect security threats in new car-to-car adhoc networks.

Synthetic datasets generation for intrusion detection in VANET

In this work, a hardware design of phase controlled rectifier has been implemented in an economical manner in power electronics laboratory using microcontroller. Various observations are recorded in this field in centuries but introducing microcontroller in this arena would be a new phase in this field of research, thus making the process more precise with faster response. Microcontroller is used to generate gate pulses to SCR. Zero Crossing Detector is employed for synchronizing the input with firing pulses in order to have controlled DC output. Detailed description and functioning of individual blocks is explained with the relevant waveforms. All waveforms obtained from 200MHz DSO at different stages are included along with the output waveforms obtained on PSIM Software. Phase controlled rectifiers are better than uncontrolled rectifier in the aspect of harmonics generated as well as controlled DC output.

 Abstract—The theme of the paper is to design and implement the firing circuit for a converter. The necessity of getting synchronized firing pulses for the gate of the thyristor is discussed. Out of many variety of firing circuits available, the ideas behind are the two most popularly used control circuits that are namely using ramp signal and using cosine signal. It shows how a cosine controls scheme work. Detail description and functioning of each block is explained along with the waveforms at the output of the blocks. Experimental results obtained from oscillographic displays at important points of the circuits are included. In this paper, we fabricate a hardware circuit which implements the cosine control technique, test the circuit and also check that desired gate pulses for the thyristors.

Design and Implementation of Firing Circuit for Single- Phase Converter

Authentication of mobile subscriber is a challenge of future researchers due to increasing security threats and attacks with the enhanced population of wireless traffic. 3G mobile communication system has been developed to speed up the data communication. In general the authentication technique in 2G mobile communication is solely dependent on checking the authenticity of MS (Mobile Station or Subscriber) by challenge/response mechanism. Here authenticity is one-way for which MSC (Mobile or Main Switching Center) checks the validity of MS. 3G mobile communication works on two different switching techniques. One is circuit switching for voice and low speed data communications. The other one is packet switching mainly for data communication, but can afford voice communication like VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol), video telephony, multimedia service etc. Generally high speed data communication is established by packet switching process through PDSN (Packet Data Serving Node) servers. In circuit switching (3G network) authentication is mutual where both MS and MSC or network authenticate each other, but in packet switching only network (servers in PDSN) examines the authenticity of MS. In this paper, we enlighten different new approaches that can be effectively used as an authentication tool in 3G mobile communications.

A Novel Approach for Authentication Technique in Mobile Communications

Different logic gates like MV, NOT, AOI, NNI etc under QCA nanotechnology are introduced. NNI gate is highly effective regarding space and speed consideration. Any Boolean functions, confined in thirteen number standard Boolean functions, are synthesized by MV and NNI gates or simply NNI gates alone, eliminating inverter (NOT) gate. A new method for realizing symmetric functions in binary reversible logic is introduced. My procedure synthesizes for a more efficient realization both the unate and non unate symmetric functions with little "garbage". The method is used in a classical logic. I use only 2-inputs and 2-outputs AND- NAND and OR-NOR cells designed on QCA technology. It admits a recursive construction. Ultimately I achieve a general equation for the minimum number of gates required to an arbitrary number of input variables, causing synthesis of symmetric function. These symmetric functions consist of different Boolean functions with adder circuits functions, subsequently all other combinational circuits like subtractor, multiplier, divisor, multiplexer, encoder, comparator etc can be designed by the adder circuit only which ensures next generation IC design. It provides a significant reduction in hardware cost and switching delay compared to other existing techniques.

In circuit switching (3-G network), authentication is mutual where both MS and MSC or network authenticate each other, despite in packet switching - only network (servers in PDSN) verifies the authenticity of MS. In this paper, we propose a mutual authentication technique for circuit and packet switching both that examines the authenticity of the subscriber as well as the network by subscriber's password, SIM (expressed as identifier) and biometric property of the subscriber, called as mutual authentication technique using three entities in 4-G mobile communications.
