Evaluating air quality by combining stationary, smart mobile pollution monitoring and data-driven modelling

MoreAir is a low-cost and agile urban air pollution monitoring system. This paper describes the methodology used in the development of this system along with some preliminary data analysis results. A key feature of MoreAir is its innovative sensor deployment strategy which is based on mobile and nomadic sensors as well as on medical data collected at a children's hospital, used to identify urban areas of high prevalence of respiratory diseases. Another key feature is the use of machine learning to perform prediction. In this paper, Moroccan cities are taken as case studies. Using the agile deployment strategy of MoreAir, it is shown that in many Moroccan neighborhoods, road traffic has a smaller impact on the concentrations of particulate matters (PM) than other sources, such as public baths, public ovens, open-air street food vendors and thrift shops. A geographical information system has been developed to provide real-time information to the citizens about the air quality in different neighborhoods and thus raise awareness about urban pollution.

Low-cost sensors (LCS) are becoming popular for air quality monitoring (AQM). They promise high spatial and temporal resolutions at low-cost. In addition, citizen science applications such as personal exposure monitoring can be implemented effortlessly. However, the reliability of the data is questionable due to various error sources involved in the LCS measurement. Furthermore, sensor performance drift over time is another issue. Hence, the adoption of LCS by regulatory agencies is still evolving. Several studies have been conducted to improve the performance of low-cost sensors. This article summarizes the existing studies on the state-of-the-art of LCS for AQM. We conceptualize a step by step procedure to establish a sustainable AQM setup with LCS that can produce reliable data. The selection of sensors, calibration and evaluation, hardware setup, evaluation metrics and inferences, and end user-specific applications are various stages in the LCS-based AQM setup we propose. We present a critical analysis at every step of the AQM setup to obtain reliable data from the low-cost measurement. Finally, we conclude this study with future scope to improve the availability of air quality data.

There has been enough traction in India to standardize 48V DC home / Office wiring for power, an ideal solution for running office devices and energy storages seeking to provide better efficiency and performance In addition, since most renewable sources provide direct current (DC) power and the batteries used for storing power also give DC power, it is easier to integrate these sources into DC power line The 48V DC power is stepped down to lower DC voltages (12–36V) with the help of converters to power the office and storage devices Once 48V DC is primary wiring, one would require converters to power lower voltage appliances like PCs (which take 19V) and laptops and also TVs (some of them take 12V) Besides once in a while one may have to connect some legacy equipment which takes only AC input The objective of this paper is to design an efficient and cost effective DC-DC power converter for notebook computers The converter employs a synchronous rectified step-down DC/DC converter IC BD9611MUV to yield 195V DC from 48V DC input The performance of developed power converter has been investigated under different input conditions and practical results have been reported in this paper Also, this paper shows that existing large AC appliances can be connected to 48V DC line with the help of Microinverter

Design of converters for leveraging 48V DC power line at homes / offices

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a chronic disorder of the upper gastrointestinal tract with global distribution. The incidence is on the increase in different parts of the world. It is characterized by heartburn and/or regurgitation symptoms is one of the most common gastrointestinal disorders managed by gastroenterologists and primary care physicians. Optimization of therapy (improving compliance and timing of PPI doses), or increasing PPI dosage to twice daily in select circumstances, can reduce persistent symptoms. In patients with residual reflux, medications like H2 blockers, Prokinetics and baclofen may be used. In those with functional heartburn or reflux sensitivity neuro-modulators form an integral part of any therapeutic approach.
