Impacts of silicon nutrition on growth and nutrient status of rice plants grown under varying zinc regimes

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of silicon nutrition on the vegetative and reproductive growth and organ-specific mineral content of rice plants under different Zn supplies were evaluated, and it was shown that silicon application increased Zn as well as Ca2+, K+, P and B contents in plants supplied up to 50µg L−1 Zn.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification and quantification of phenolic and flavonoid components in straw and seed husk of some rice varieties (Oryza sativa L.) and their antioxidant properties.

TL;DR: It is revealed that rice straw and seed husk of Iranian varieties shows high antioxidant activities and they contain various types of phenolic and flavonoid compounds that could be use in food and medical industries.
Journal ArticleDOI

Silicon Affects Transcellular and Apoplastic Uptake of Some Nutrients in Plants

TL;DR: The positive effects of silicon (Si) on growth of plants have been well documented; however, the impact of Si on plant nutrient uptake remains unclear as mentioned in this paper, and the positive effect of silicon on plant growth is still unclear.
Journal ArticleDOI

Increased cell wall thickness of endodermis and protoxylem in Aeluropus littoralis roots under salinity: The role of LAC4 and PER64 genes.

TL;DR: The overall results of this study reveal the crucial role of LAC4 as an important gene in specialized protoxylem lignification in undifferentiated root tips leading to enhanced tolerance in early stages of salt stress.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phytochemical evaluation, antioxidant properties and antibacterial activity of Iranian medicinal herb Galanthus transcaucasicus Fomin

TL;DR: The overall results revealed that various phytochemicals and bioactive compound in different parts of G. transcaucasicus could be considered as a source of putative antioxidant and antibacterial properties that could be used as biopreservative in food and cosmetic industries.
