Operating Systems: Design and Implementation

As a significant application of energy, smart grid is a complicated interconnected power grid that involves sensors, deployment strategies, smart meters, and real-time data processing. It continuously generates data with large volume, high velocity, and diverse variety. In this paper, we first give a brief introduction on big data, smart grid, and big data application in the smart grid scenario. Then, recent studies and developments are summarized in the context of integrated architecture and key enabling technologies. Meanwhile, security issues are specifically addressed. Finally, we introduce several typical big data applications and point out future challenges in the energy domain.

A survey of intrusion detection systems based on ensemble and hybrid classifiers

This paper describes the advantages of using the anomaly detection approach over the misuse detection technique in detecting unknown network intrusions or attacks. It also investigates the performance of various clustering algorithms when applied to anomaly detection. Five different clustering algorithms: k-Means, improved k-Means, k-Medoids, EM clustering and distance-based outlier detection algorithms are used. Our experiment shows that misuse detection techniques, which implemented four different classifiers (naive Bayes, rule induction, decision tree and nearest neighbour) failed to detect network traffic, which contained a large number of unknown intrusions; where the highest accuracy was only 63.97% and the lowest false positive rate was 17.90%. On the other hand, the anomaly detection module showed promising results where the distance-based outlier detection algorithm outperformed other algorithms with an accuracy of 80.15%. The accuracy for EM clustering was 78.06%, for k-Medoids it was 76.71%, for improved k-Means it was 65.40% and for k-Means it was 57.81%. Unfortunately, our anomaly detection module produces high false positive rate (more than 20%) for all four clustering algorithms. Therefore, our future work will be more focus in reducing the false positive rate and improving the accuracy using more advance machine learning techniques.

Unsupervised Clustering Approach for Network Anomaly Detection

Most of the advancements are now carried out by interconnecting physical devices with computers; this is what known as Internet of Things (IoT). The major problems facing by blind people fall in the category of navigating through indoor and outdoor environments consisting of various obstacles and recognition of person in front of them. Identification of objects or person only with perceptive and audio information is difficult. An intelligent, portable, less expensive, self-contained navigation and face recognition system is highly demanded for blind people. This helps blind people to navigate with the help of a Smartphone, global positioning system (GPS) and a system equipped with ultrasonic sensors. Face recognition can be done using neural learning techniques with feature extraction and training modules. The images of friends, relatives are stored in the database of user Smartphone. Whenever a person comes in front of the blind user, the application with the help of neural network gives the voice aid to the user. Thus this system can replace the regular imprecise use of guide dogs as well as white sticks to help the navigation and face recognition process for people with impaired vision.In this paper, we have proposed a novel image recognition and navigation system which provides precise and quick messages in the form of audio to visually challenged people so that they can navigate easily. The performance of the proposed method is comparatively analyzed with the help of ROC analysis.

Intelligent face recognition and navigation system using neural learning for smart security in Internet of Things

Nowadays, as information systems are more open to the Internet, the importance of secure networks is tremendously increased. New intelligent Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) which are based on sophisticated algorithms rather than current signature-base detections are in demand. There is often the need to update an installed Intrusion Detection System (IDS) due to new attack methods or upgraded computing environments. Since many current Intrusion Detection Systems are constructed by manual encoding of expert knowledge, changes to them are expensive and slow. In data mining-based intrusion detection system, we should make use of particular domain knowledge in relation to intrusion detection in order to efficiently extract relative rules from large amounts of records. This paper proposes new ensemble boosted decision tree approach for intrusion detection system. Experimental results shows better results for detecting intrusions as compared to others existing methods.

Navigation assistance for visually impaired (NAVI) refers to systems that are able to assist or guide people with vision loss, ranging from partially sighted to totally blind, by means of sound commands. Many researchers are working to assist visually impaired people in different ways like voice based assistance, ultrasonic based assistance, camera based assistance and in some advance way researchers are trying to give transplantation of real eyes with robotic eyes which can capable enough to plot the real image over patient retina using some biomedical technologies. In other way creating a fusion of sensing technology and voice based guidance system some of the products were developed which could give better result than individual technology. There are some limitation in system like obstacle detection which could not see the object but detection the object and camera based system can't work properly in different light level so the proposed system is a fusion of color sensing sensor and the obstacle sensor along with the voice based assistance system. The main idea of the proposed system to make person aware of path he is walking and also the obstacle in the path.

Navigation system for visually impaired people

2 Abstract: Mobility of visually impaired people is restricted by their incapability to recognize their surroundings. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2012, out of 7 billion global population there were over 285 million visually impaired people and 39 million were totally blind out of which 19 million are children ( below 15 years). This means that someone in our world goes blind in every five seconds and a child in every minute. Over 90 percent blind children obtain no schooling. Recent survey source India is now became the world's large number of blind people. The population of India has reached 120 Cr. of those 8.90 Cr. people are visually impaired. 90%of those cannot travel independently. In this paper, we present a survey of navigation system of visually impaired people highlighting various technologies with their practical usefulness, design and working challenges and requirements of blind people. The aim of this paper is to provide a better understanding to identify important research directions in this increasingly important social area for future research.

Review Paper on Navigation System for Visually Impaired People

Growth of the internet, Lead to Cloud Computing, Mobile Network and Internet of Things increasing rapidly, big data is becoming a hot-spot in recent years. Data generated from many sources made huge demand for storing, managing, processing and querying on various stream. This gives rise to data processing in our daily life such as mobile devices, RFID and Wireless sensors, which aims at dealing with billions of users interactive data. At real time processing is intently needed integrated system. An entire system is built on one such application Storm, associated with Sql Stream. In this survey use this static data stream and some logs stream and also click stream to show some basic result. To ensure the practical applicability and high efficiency, A Simulation System is established and shown acceptable performance in various expressions using data sheet. It proved that data analysis system for stream and real time processing based on storm can be used in various computing environment.

2 Abstract: There are so much daily routine application where the SMS is being used including medical purpose, banking purpose and any other mobile purpose. Forwarding an SMS is one of the cheapest, fastest and simple method. When we delegates message from one cell phone to another cell phone, the data contained in the message transmit as a vanilla text (unencrypted text). Consistently this data contained in the message may be arcane (private) like bank account number, identification key, and license number and so on, and it is an extreme trouble to transfer such data through message until the traditional message courtesy dose not supply (give) encryption to the data contained in the SMS before its transmission.
