Journal ArticleDOI
Reversible Biochemical Switching of Ionic Transport through Aligned Carbon Nanotube Membranes
TL;DR: The core entrances of an aligned CNT membrane were functionalized with a desthiobiotin derivative that binds reversibly to streptavidin, thereby enabling a reversible closing/opening of the core entrance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Carbon nanotube based biomimetic membranes: mimicking protein channels regulated by phosphorylation
TL;DR: Membranes based on an array of aligned carbon nanotubes were used to mimic biological protein channels by functionalizing the open tips of the nanot tubes with a synthetic peptide to obtain a biomimetic system where phosphorylation regulates the flow.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hybrid nanoparticles based on organized protein immobilization on fullerenes.
Pramod Nednoor,Marcello Capaccio,Vasilis G. Gavalas,Mark S. Meier,John E. Anthony,Leonidas G. Bachas +5 more
TL;DR: In this work, immobilization of a fullerenes derivative with a mutant subtilisin is demonstrated, and the effect of the fullerene on the protein activity is determined, which had improved catalytic properties in comparison to subtilisi immobilized on nonporous silica.
