Fabrication of Ag-doped MoO3 and its nanohybrid with a two-dimensional carbonaceous material to enhance photocatalytic activity

Hydrodeoxygenation of vegetal oil and methyl oleate studied using Pt and Pd supported with alumina-beta-zeolite (γ-Al2O3-H-β) and comparing its performance with NiMo/γ-Al2O3 and Pd/C in a semi-batch reactor, at 300 340 C and 2.0 MPa. This study has used Pd and Pt on H-β zeolites with alumina binder as extrudate and it examines over triglycerides hydrogenolysis. Pd/C showed higher rate of deoxygenation and the selectivity of C18/C17 was higher for NiMo-S/γ-Al2O3 and PdPt/γ-Al2O3-H-β. PdPt/γ-Al2O3-H-β enhanced the hydrogenation and hydrogenolysis, while conversion and yield in deoxygenation and decomposition has reached identicical performance as NiMo-S/γ-Al2O3 catalytic deoxygenation process. Both the thermal decomposition and the hydrogenation of unsaturated triglycerides were mainly affected by H2 partial pressure. Transition metals like Pd and Pt on H-β and alumina binder ratio of 40:60 wt% showed effective hydrodeoxygenation of vegetal oil without substituting sulfur feed.

Direct Hydrogenation and Hydrotreating of Neat Vegetal Oil into Renewable Diesel Using Alumina Binder with Zeolite

Carbon monoxide (CO) is one of the most poisonous gasses present in the environment and lower temperature complete oxidation of CO is very important processes for human health protection. The automobile vehicles exhaust is one of the major sources of CO production into the environment and application of catalytic converter in automobile vehicles reduces the CO gasses emission. There are various types of catalysts are used in the catalytic converter for CO oxidation purposes among them the zinc oxides (ZnO) and chromium oxides (Cr2O3) are one of the oldest and best-known catalysts. The small modification of ZnO and Cr2O3 catalysts led to increases their specific surface area and decreases their mean crystallite size. The small addition of various metal ions into the hexagonal ZnO and Cr2O3 catalysts surfaces the formation of highly dispersed metal oxide for low-temperature CO oxidation. The catalytic oxidation of CO over ZnO and Cr2O3 catalysts could proceed via a Mars-van Krevelen mechanism, which involves the redox process. The lattice oxygen present in catalyst surface being consumed upon reaction for CO oxidation and replaced by oxygen in air. The ZnO and Cr2O3 catalysts are one of the best catalysts from lower cost, thermally activity and selectivity point of view. The certain attention has been paid on recovery of ZnO and Cr2O3 catalysts from reaction systems and their reuse for several times without losses of catalytic activity in CO oxidation. This review paper represents important information about the pure and substituted ZnO and Cr2O3 catalysts for CO emissions control.

Supported and un-supported zinc and chromium oxide catalysts for lower temperature CO oxidation: A review

Fungal strains; resistant to Chromium (Cr) and tannic acid were isolated from tannery effluents and rDNA gene sequentially identified as Aspergillus niveus MCC 1318, Aspergillus flavus MCC 1317 and Aspergillus niger MCC 1316. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the reported isolates ranged up to 200 ppm and 5% for Cr and tannic acid, respectively. Theoretical optimization of the various physiochemical parameters for the removal of Cr and tannic acid was supported using Plackett–Burman design and response surface methodology (RSM). A. niveus, A. niger and, A. flavus were able to remove 80%, 82% and 88% Cr and the residual tannic acid was found to be 20%, 27%, 25% respectively. A hike of 10% was found in the removal Cr in case of novel fungal consortia of A. niger , A. flavus and A. niveus . Enhanced biodegradation (4%–9%) of tannic acid was also observed in the presence of fungal consortia. Bioremediation efficiency of individual fungal strains for other heavy metals such as Zn, Pb, Cd and Ni was observed to be 55%, 68%, 41% and 69% respectively for A. niveus , 60%, 59%, 59% and 50% respectively for A. niger and 63%, 52%, 68% and 58% for A. flavus . An incomparable removal of Zn, Pb, Cd and Ni was observed in the case of fungal consortia i.e. 80%, 70%, 80% and 75% respectively. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) unveil the adsorption phenomena by revealing the interactions of adsorbed Cr with methyl and methylene groups, secondary amides, phosphate groups present in the fungal media. • 12 fungal strains have been isolated from the contaminated samples of chromium (Cr(VI)). • Screening and scrutinization divulges FS3 and FS5 isolates to be the most tolerant fungi against the higher concentrations of tested heavy metal. • The maximum value of Cr(VI) uptake and % removal by A. flavus and A. fumigatus stood at 5.65±0.34 mg/g; 74.15±1.48% and 5.90±0.71 mg/g; 74.41±2.02% respectively. 

Unloading of hazardous Cr and Tannic Acid from real and synthetic waste water by novel fungal consortia

Reducing costs and improving performance have always been hotspots in the field of catalyst research. In order to control the NO x in the low-temperature flue gas of nonpower industries, this paper studies the denitration performance of the ultrasonication-assisted preparation of Mn-based blast furnace slag selective catalytic reduction (SCR) low-temperature denitration catalysts. The catalyst was characterized by FT-IR, XRD, and SEM. The study found that ultrasound assistance can make the active components on the catalyst surface more uniformly dispersed and improve the catalytic activity of the catalyst. Under conditions of 80 W ultrasonic power and 20 min ultrasonic time, the denitration performance of the Mn-based blast furnace slag catalyst is optimal, and the NO removal rate is 2.5 times that of the unsonicated catalyst. This work clarified the mechanism of the effect of ultrasonic assistance on the Mn-based blast furnace slag catalyst and at the same time realized the utilization of solid waste resources and air pollution control.

Ultrasonication-Assisted Preparation of a Mn-Based Blast Furnace Slag Catalyst: Effects on the Low-Temperature Selective Catalytic Reduction Denitration Process.

Comparative studies on ultrasound assisted treatment of tannery effluent using multiple oxy-catalysts using response surface methodology

In this present work, Hydro-dearomatisation of toluene and hydro-isomerisation of n-hexadecane (n-C16) in ultralow sulphur diesel (ULSD) using Pt-Cl/H-Beta and Pt/H-Beta catalyst was investigated in a continuous down-flow trickle-bed reactor (DFTBR), and the physicochemical properties of products were studied. The catalytic effect on 40:60 wt% of H-beta-zeolite (H-β) and binder–aluminahydrochlorite extruded was characterized in scanning electron microscopy, nitrogen adsorption and coke testing. The study showed that 80 to 95 wt% of middle distillates recovered in ULSD on elevated temperature between 230 and 270 °C at 5 MPa. With a higher residence time of feed, the middle distillate recovered with 2.2 v/v% of aromatics and −32 °C of cloud point. In the model compound investigation of toluene and n-C16, it was observed that absorption of aromatic ring inhibits the rate of isomerisation; particularly it reduces the yield of branching and rearrangement of n-C16. Also, Cl-incorporated H-β extrudate enhanced the ring saturation and suppressed the reaction path in oligomerisation and cyclisation of paraffin. This methodology achieved asingle-stage upgrading technique involved in the delivery of commercial diesel in the market with low cloud point and aromatic content.
