CHIMAERA: a high-performance architecture with a tightly-coupled reconfigurable functional unit

TL;DR: Timing experiments demonstrate that for a 4-way out-of-order superscalar processor Chimaera results in average performance improvements of 21%, assuming a very aggressive core processor design (most pessimistic RFU latency model) and communication overheads from and to the RFU.
Journal ArticleDOI

Demonstration of automatic data partitioning techniques for parallelizing compilers on multicomputers

TL;DR: Results of a study performed on Fortran programs taken from the Linpack and Eispack libraries and the Perfect Benchmarks to determine the applicability of the approach to real programs demonstrate the feasibility of automatic data partitioning for programs with regular computations that may be statically analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Paradigm compiler for distributed-memory multicomputers

TL;DR: The Paradigm (PARAllelizing compiler for DIstributed-memory, General-purpose Multicomputers) project at the University of Illinois addresses the problem of massively parallel distributed-memory multicomputers by developing automatic methods for the efficient parallelization of sequential programs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Algorithm-based fault detection for signal processing applications

TL;DR: A functional-level concurrent error-detection scheme is presented for such VLSI signal processing architectures as those proposed for the FFT and QR factorization, and it is shown that the error coverage is high with large word sizes.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

A MATLAB compiler for distributed, heterogeneous, reconfigurable computing systems

TL;DR: An experimental prototype of a software system that will take MATLAB descriptions of various applications, and automatically map them on to a distributed computing environment consisting of embedded processors, digital signal processors and field-programmable gale arrays built from commercial off-the-shelf components is implemented.
