A wireless IC device includes a wireless IC chip arranged to process a radio signal, a power-supply circuit board that is connected to the wireless IC chip and that includes a power supply circuit including at least one coil pattern, and a radiation plate arranged to radiate a transmission signal supplied from the power-supply circuit board and/or receiving a reception signal to supply the reception signal to the power-supply circuit board. The radiation plate includes an opening provided in a portion thereof and a slit connected to the opening. When viewed in plan from the direction of the winding axis of the coil pattern, the opening in the radiation plate overlaps with an inner area of the coil pattern and the area of the inner area is approximately the same as that of opening.

An antenna device includes an antenna coil including a first conductive pattern disposed on a first major surface of a magnetic sheet, a second conductive pattern disposed on a first major surface of a non-magnetic sheet, and an interlayer conductor connecting the first conductive pattern and second conductive pattern. The antenna coil including the first conductive pattern and second conductive pattern defines a spiral or substantially spiral pattern. The antenna device is a resin multilayer structure in which its base body is a laminate of the magnetic layer and non-magnetic layer and the predetermined patterns are disposed inside and outside the laminate.

A radio IC device includes an electromagnetic coupling module includes a radio IC chip arranged to process transmitted and received signals and a feed circuit board including an inductance element. The feed circuit board includes an external electrode electromagnetically coupled to the feed circuit, and the external electrode is electrically connected to a shielding case or a wiring cable. The shielding case or the wiring cable functions as a radiation plate. The radio IC chip is operated by a signal received by the shielding case or the wiring, and the answer signal from the radio IC chip is radiated from the shielding case or the wiring cable to the outside. A metal component functions as the radiation plate, and the metal component may be a ground electrode disposed on the printed wiring board.

A wireless IC device includes a wireless IC chip, a power supply circuit board upon which the wireless IC chip is mounted, and in which a power supply circuit is provided, the power supply circuit includes a resonant circuit having a predetermined resonant frequency, and a radiation pattern, which is adhered to the underside of the power supply circuit board, for radiating a transmission signal supplied from the power supply circuit, and for receiving a reception signal to supply this to the power supply circuit. The resonant circuit is an LC resonant circuit including an inductance device and capacitance devices. The power supply circuit board is a multilayer rigid board or a single-layer rigid board, and between the wireless IC chip and the radiation pattern is connected by DC connection, magnetic coupling, or capacitive coupling.

A resonant frequency (f1) by the chip antenna (2) can be obtained, and furthermore, the resonant frequency (f1) can be varied. The antenna element (3) is formed by adding an auxiliary element (31) to an added radiation electrode (30) of the chip antenna (2). The chip antenna (4) is composed of a radiation electrode (41) on a dielectric base body (40), and a conductor pattern (41g). Thus, resonant frequencies (f2, f3) by the antenna element (3) and the chip antenna (4) can be obtained.

SOLUTION: A sealing part 17 covers an antenna substrate 11 and a magnetic core member 12 while the flat plate-shaped magnetic core member 12 is laminated in parallel with the antenna substrate 11 with an air core coil formed therein. The magnetic core member 12 is made of sintered ferrite. In this configuration, the antenna coil 10 excellent in a communication characteristic in a high frequency band can be obtained, and the sintered ferrite apt to be broken and insufficient in handleability can easily applied as the magnetic core member 12. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antenna module in which countermeasures against unnecessary radiation are taken and a space is saved, and a personal digital assistant provided with the same. SOLUTION: The antenna module comprises a loop-like antenna coil 21, a signal processing circuit unit 41 electrically connected to the antenna coil 21, a substrate 42 for supporting the antenna coil 21 and the circuit unit 41, and a shield structure 60 for shielding the signal processing circuit unit. The shield structure 60 consists of a metallic foil 61 formed on one surface of the substrate 42 so as to cover the signal processing circuit unit, and a metal plate 44 arranged oppositely to the other surface of the substrate 42 with a magnetic plate 43 sandwiched. Further, the metallic foil 61 is electrically connected to the metal plate 44, thereby improving a shield effect of the circuit unit 41 and miniaturizing the antenna module. SOLUTION: In this magnetic core member 4 arranged between an antenna substrate formed with antenna coils 11 and 12 and a conductive shield plate and configured by filling soft magnetic powder 31 in insulating material 30, the magnetic core member is a two-layer structure consisting of a first layer 4A and a second layer 4B, wherein the first layer 4A has the filling factor of the soft magnetic power 31 smaller than that of the second layer 4B. The magnetic core member 4 is configured such that a first plane 4a of a side facing the antenna substrate 2 and a second plane 4b of a side facing the shield plate have different magnetic characteristics different from each other.
