Security and privacy issues of physical objects in the IoT: Challenges and opportunities

The Internet of things is a new technological revolution following the computer and Internet. It aims to connect all physical objects existing in the world and forms a network with everything. In recent years, smart home gradually enters into our life. Smart home uses the Internet of things technology to connect all kinds of devices in the home, to achieve a smart home environment. Although the development of smart home has brought a qualitative leap to people’s life, there are many problems in security. Privacy security is one of the challenges to the smart home environment. Attackers can intrude various smart devices in the smart home environment, to achieve the purpose of stealing users’ personal information and privacy. Among these devices, smart cameras are the most intruded frequently. Since many cameras are installed in users’ homes to achieve real-time monitoring of the environment, but the existence of these cameras provides a channel to get information for attackers. In recent years, the leak of video privacy is emerging in an endless stream. According to the researches about privacy protection, this paper proposes a new scheme to selectively encrypt the video captured by the cameras through machine learning technology, so as to protect the personal privacy of users and improve the security of the smart home environment.

A Video-Selection-Encryption Privacy Protection Scheme Based on Machine Learning in Smart Home Environment

The Internet of Things (IoT) transmits data between devices and users with the help of communication protocols. IoT communication protocols can be classified into 3 architecture kinds from different aspects: OSI model hierarchy, IEEE 802 protocol standard or network types. Designed for diverse situation and with growing technique, the protocols show different features in technology roadmap, communication distance, and signal frequency spectrum rang. The future trends of the IoT communication protocols might locate in their optimization, integration and information security.

Decision game of data sharing in supply chain enterprises considering data value over time

In wireless sensor networks, the convergence node (sink node) is the center of the network, all network data will be transmitted to the sink node, it will process and extract effective information, which leads to the uneven distribution of traffic. An external attacker who can monitor traffic will find the location of the convergent node and attack it according to this feature. In order to protect the location of the sink node in the wireless sensor network, a privacy protection protocol based on K anonymous false packet injection (KAFP) is proposed. The protocol randomly generates K false sink nodes, transmits real data to the sink node and transmits false data to the false sink node. By hiding the location of the sink node, the security time is increased. Theoretical analysis and simulation experiment results show that KAFP can protect privacy of convergent nodes at lower energy consumption when the value of K is properly selected.

Location Privacy Protection for Sink Node in WSN Based on K Anonymous False Packets Injection

By establishing the architecture of IoT,this paper analyzed the privacy threats faced by sensor layer and process layer of the architecture in detail.It summarized the current privacy-preserving methods associated with IoT systemically,especially for methods of anonymization,encryption and routing protocols.At the end of the paper,it pointed out future research directions on privacy-preserving for IoT.
